General Carowinds discussion
#104501
One other thing about coasters in winter. If the design specs have a minimum temperature on them, then Carowinds would be obligated to follow the specs or open themselves up for problems if an issue arose. ...even legal ramifications if someone got hurt or whatever. Even if it wasn't related to the cold, I'm sure a lawyer could argue "the coaster shouldn't have even been running because of the design specifications, yada yada yada." If I'm Carowinds, I would definitely adhere to any specifications. Way too much at stake otherwise...

Now, if there isn't a design spec for temps, then I definitely say "open it up and lets make ourselves into popsicles!!!!"

I think ever manufacturer has a designated temperature etc. I am sure the park and cedar fair also has its own guidelines to follow. It really is crazy how it can vary from park to park! I am just happy that we get to stay open through Dec. now and Copperhead will be opened next year at this time. I do hope they add a ride or two in addition to copperhead adn Mountain Gliders, which I wouldnt be surprised if they added Dogems. I think they should use the other side of PvZ theater and play a Christmas movie or something, at least its indoors and would be a place to warm up if it was cols outside.... Its all about the budget etc. though!

Kings Dominion used their Action Theater for a 3D Christmas show for their first Winterfest this year. Even though ours has the little scooter seats (isn’t other side used for storage?) maybe it’s not out of the question to have something similar someday. I would imagine Mountain Gliders would for sure run since isn’t every flat ride with accessible pathway for the event open anyway (minus Windseeker)?

The tophat/cutback has very interesting shaping, not as tall as I suspected in person but there should be some moments that’ll surprise the speed critics like the airtime hill + corckscrew combo along with the turn after the pullout from the tophat and the little twisted air moment after the Stengel type element. That’s not including the crazy hangtime it should have

The other side of AFX has the old benches that were in the Dino movie. It is used for special events and cast member training.

NOT storage.

The other side of PvsZ was used this past year for high school chorus competitions. Just as the Carowinds theater is used for orchestra and band competitions.

I was there watching my daughter perform with her chorus. It would work nicely for a small Christmas show.

Our Chorus used to sing in that competition way back when I was in High School. :)
Of course, White Lightenin' was still running when I was in high school.....

The hotel is coming along nice, as well. I haven't been able to go back to it the last few trips, may do that next week sometime. The dorms are also moving right along

Awesome shots as always Dirk! I see that the stairs are a little different than the renderings....

Here is a picture my friend took tonight of blue ridge country kitchen.
