General Carowinds discussion

The two game booths that are near the arcade (in the middle of the midway) are being torn down. I know the arcade is getting a touch up next year but I think I’m the next few years Carowinds needs to build some new game stands since they’ve torn down a few lately and the ones they currently have are a bit old.

Wasn’t there a permit filed for a parking lot expansion on the South Carolina side? If so, crews have been digging up some dirt lately. You can see some of the dirt at the top of the photo below which is located right near the waterpark entrance.

Yea, there was, I think it had got denied but it probably got approved eventually. I am wondering if they will use the area that the track was staged in as parking, since it was parking before anyway just no pavement.... That area was a mud pit from the trucks and other equipment.

Merry Christmas everyone! Just wanted to provide some insight on why Fury cannot run. According to B&M, she cannot run under 40 degrees but one thing to note is that it also depends on if the ride has been running already before the temperature drops. Starting her up can be a hassle with the slow trains, the computer system sending out faults, and more... Most times maintenance won't run it until it is about 45 degrees just to be sure that it won't valley. We haven't had her valley yet. If she were to valley, maintenance has a strong belief that it would valley before the trim or in the trench. Throughout my 3 seasons working at this beauty, I can attest that the cooler temps can indeed slow the trains down to a crawl. You wouldn't think that they'd ever move that slow, but they can and will. The ride just doesn't like the cold. Once the trains are loaded, they're fine but you never know when you'll have to send out an empty train throughout the day. I believe Afterburn's minimum is between 34-36, but I'm not entirely sure. Intimidator is 40 as well.

How many night has the park been under 49 though? The general consensus is that pretty much all coasters have issues when Temps go that low. I don't see fury being any different than Goliath or nitro or any other hyper coaster that runs in much colder climates at other parks.

Just relaying info. Don't know what other parks do, I only know what we do for Fury. One thing to note is that Goliath and Nitro are older than Fury, so maybe certain things are not exactly the same between the rides. That's similar to saying why does Afterburn run this time of the year but Banshee can't? They're both B&M inverts but I'm sure there is a reason.

The transfer track is in place now and the only thing remaining in the lay-down yard are 2 trailers and some MACK crates. Also got a few pictures of the hotel.
