General Carowinds discussion

Keep in mind, Fury use to run 3 trains everyday the first 2 years of operation. Now 2017 and 2018 they just run 2 trains during the week, and then run 3 on the weekends. Keep in mind, there was also a tremendous amount of inclement weather days.

Nighthawk is very popular with the GP. Just because an enthusiast thinks it sucks doesn't mean it doesn't deserve popular ridership. The people love it. It just needs some TLC. Besides, it's a photogenic center piece.

So question, does anyone else have issue with Wooden coaster trains putting your body in unnatural position causing pain and discomfort? In particular trains like Thunder Road ended up with or Hurler. I personally feel when they crush my knees to the center of the train my body can’t flow naturally during the ride and is the cause of back and neck pain. I personally love the feel of a woodie and would ride more if the trains weren’t so poorly designed. My thought is why not use a system similar to Fury325. Yes I know it would take work to design that but increased ridership would extend the life of some attractions.

PTC trains are classic, they’ve been around for decades. They aren’t the most comfortable, especially if you’re tall, but I personally don’t take much issue with them. Most people do prefer Millennium Flyers or Timberliners over old school PTCs so you aren’t alone in finding them uncomfortable. Whatever the future holds for Hurler, Millennium Flyers would be an improvement.

I think the industry has just come a long way so when you become used to clamshells or Mack trains then riding in a PTC train on a woodie that may not be glass smooth will feel like driving over railroad tracks for two minutes. Trains and restraints overall are improving, more lapbars and less OTSRs, unless you’re B&M or Vekoma, but even they’ve had great response to their newer vest restraints. I don’t care for them but most people say they’re superior to traditional hard OTSRs.

At least I am not alone. I guess having grown up riding the original trains on T Road ruined me, being able to move from side to side in your seat. My height didn’t use to be an issue, and yes my size does matter but I hope some day I will be able to enjoy them again.

Just a quick question. How is it that SixFlags have seemed to manage to streamline their mobile app to integrate all parks into one app while CF still have separate apps for each park? You would think CF would've jumped on that first and SixFlags follow suit. I guess not even with the mobile food ordering. I think it's genius. I do still have my set backs about it in an amusement park setting tho.

If I had to speculate, I would guess that it's because Cedar Fair seems to be marketing each park as a unique, regional experience that happens to be owned and operated by an umbrella company. It could also simply be that they've decided their mobile platform works well enough for what it does and isn't work the investment a major redesign would require.

Again, speculation.

They have different outlooks on how they want their parks, marketing, apps, etc ran as opposed to SF. SF markets themselves as an overall brand. SF passes are automatically good at all dry parks. Most of the GP have no idea what parks are CF. And the company doesn’t market themselves
That way. It would be confusing for people to have to search for a CF app and not a parks specific app. People looking for Six Flags parks are going to search for the term Six Flags. People looking for the Carowinds app aren’t going to search for Cedar Fair.

A lot has happened lol

Same here lol.

I just booked a flight to Charlotte for opening day! I just hope the lines won't be too crazy and I can get my money's worth for 12 hours in the park (:

I'm going to carowinds in April for a band trip. I would like some assurance that cedar fair won't pull a six flags and open their coaster mid-season.

Consider yourself assured.
