General Carowinds discussion

No need to bother posting more pictures as they will be showing the same thing but how about some tidbits instead  :D ?!?!?

- As far as thematic elements, the entire area will be playing up on the farm theme.

- We will be seeing veggies (especially corn  ) growing throughout the area as well as. . . Copperheads! Note, copperheads aren't always snakes

- Granny's jam factory will have a presence in the area but the team haven't made the decision on everything as far as speciality items (food, souvenirs).

- There will be a small show scene inside the barn. For those of you who are familiar with the area, the park installed a much improved version of their ladder climb game in 2017. Well, they purposely placed it in it's location (directly in front of the barn) so you couldn't see directly into it (the barn).

- As it seemed based on the trains, the time period for the new area is around the same as the county fair as the two areas are suppose to flow organically into each other.

- There will be a HUGE gas fireplace built directly to the left (if you're looking at it) of said ladder climb. This will be perfect for those winterfest nights.

- It's interesting how the launch system works. On COpperhead Strike (and i'm sure on other launch coasters) the coal is to have it operate at the highest efficiency point. The actual speed of the launch will depend on the weight of the train at that time. They will test and tweak the launch system with water dummies at different weights. The initial test will be with the dummies weighing 170lbs each as that is the standard weight of adults. Then they will raise the weight to 220lbs each to see how that will effect the launch. From there, will be able to provide a near perfect ride, each time, regardless of the train is full or not.

- The expansion of Country Kitchen will allow for dual serving lines and one of the main featured dishes will be rotisserie chicken made right there in the restaurant!

- There are a lot of foundations on this coaster. Coming in at 230, it surpasses Fury and Intimidators 170 and 180.

- The onride photo section location is yet to be determine. It has been narrowed down to two spots (don't quote me lol) which are after the first vertical look and before the top hat element.

- As far as a light package, I wouldn't expect anything like hangtime. While no decision has been made, I would bet my money on some spotlights, if anything.

- Since carowinds have been transformed several times before, one of the biggest challenges the construction crew faces is finding old ride foundations, and conduits. Even though they did plenty soil test, they still managed to hit some pretty tough granite. A funny tidbit is they thought they struck gold but it turned out to be (ok I forgot what it turned out to be but it wasn't gold. However, there does seem to be a gold mine that runs through the park! I had no idea.

- The construction crew gave themselves an 8 week time span to cover any downtime and with the weather the park has experiences that were still able to come under it. You may have noticed some of the crew installing elements and pieces of the project during winterfest hours.

- Speaking of winterfest, Copperhead Strike MAY operate during it. SO basically, don't be bummed if it isn't on the ride list as the park has made it very clear that the direction they want to go for winterfest isn't one that is heavily dependent on coasters and thrill rides.

This is great you got a lot of information from it.

The excitement for this ride is building.

I hope the 3 train operation will be a capacity eater because I feel the line for this may even surpass Fury.

The rides theoretical capacity just can’t hit Fury’s, 3x32 vs 3x16. Still with short trains, simple lapbar, lockers, dispatches shouldn’t take long at all. Each dispatch will have to be under a minute to hit the theoretical 75 dispatches per hour.

Did anyone ask about seatbelts? I know these Mack LSMs usually don’t have them but this past year Liseberg added them on Helix. Not having seatbelts would help with quicker loading.

carolinaman wrote:^ The facts sheet they handed out says capacity is approximately 1200 per hour.

Is the 2:24 ride time from the gate opening to hitting the exit ramp? Or is it just the time it takes the train to complete the course station to station? Because that 1200/hr capacity is based entirely on that 2:24 time (144 seconds means 25 rides/hour, times 16 seats, times 3 trains). Any additional unload/load time will slash that capacity significantly.

Hey guys, let's not over think/analyze trivial things like the EXACT ride time. If the park can operate Flying Cobras and Ricochet without astronomical wait times then this coaster shouldn't be much different.

This IS the model that was at IAPPA :D Backwards train was just a mistake by whoever built the model
