Stand ups are horrible. A pendulum in the spot of Vortex would be more popular. Stand ups are not good in general & Vortex was one of the worst, even a conversion, like the Vortex at CGA is still not popular. The layout of the Vortex clones stink as stand ups & is the worst floorless now.

Zamperla Discoveries are the best frisbee rides. Wish Cedar Fair had went with them over HUSS . The Zamperla light package are really good which would complement the excellent light package on the Windseeker, shown in this KD picture. Still hoping CF also test the 2nd generation enterprises by Huss, no park has bought any. CF keeps killing off their old enterprises b/c of maintenance. If CF tries one probably would go to Wonderland first to test.

Does Chance even make Falling Stars anymore? The Gauntlet was always a neat ride and one that can be enjoyed by a wide variety of ages and thrill levels.

Put that in, too.

Ha you guys got me. I had completely forgot about Shockwave. I still contend that CF would not be so quick to remove Vortex as it is newer and it's a B&M which makes it very reliable and probably not as expensive to upkeep. However, I hope I'm wrong and they would consider doing the same thing for us and KD because that would be an awesome addition to the park.

I have 2 things to say.
I would HATE to see vortex bite the dust. when I hopped on after hearing about how bad it is, my dad (who hasn't been to carowinds in about 30-40 years) told me this simple trick. You bend your knees and push the restraint down as far as possible until it locks. then you stand back up. That trick saved my genetals and reduced the amount of headbanging. It REALLY WORKS!
It really isn't a bad ride if you use that trick. sure you bang your head on some of the curves, but it really doesn't hurt as much if you use the trick. Even if it gets the floorless conversion, i'd like to see the original layout stay. I'd rather see nighthawk bite the dust than this one.

That's been a trick since 1992.

Then again, I am very young. I know all of you are older than me, so y'all get cookie points for every error I make.

If there’s a handbook you gotta follow to make a ride not-terrible, it’s probably not a good ride. Vortex was my first inverting coaster, but I’ll pay good money to see it in a scrapyard.

It's no more of a handbook than saying a non wheel seat gives a less bumpy ride on a wooden coaster vs a wheel seat or riding close to the back gives a wilder sensation than in the middle.

I think some antique cars would look really nice in Vortex's spot. They'd really add to the 'Carousel Park' atmosphere. Maybe we follow in Kings Island's footsteps for 2020?

I'm kinda leaning to the park following BIG . . . foots print for 2020 but i have my reservations as well.

They aint got BIG shoes to fill with that footprints....

That said, the most logical expansion for that space(IMO) needs to be more logical than the illogical layout changes to Camp Snoopy.

Narrowing walkways and creating a dead end with 3 rides....
SMH.

It's pretty apparent that the dead end is designed to connect to an expansion area once the dinosaurs go away, most likely after the 2019 season.

^If that was the case then they would have left more room between the que lines for Kite Eating Tree and Trailblazers.

The walkway that goes behind the Trailblazers is left over from the 2005 expansion when a walkway connected TV Land Road Trip to Phantom Flyers, when Road Trip was removed for Dino’s, they removed a small portion of the walkway and left the rest for Woodstock Express maintenance road.

As far as the dead end between Wilderness Run and Beagle Scout acres, it originally went to TV Land Road Trip in 1998.

Not saying that the Kite Eating Tree/Trailblazers/Camp Bus plaza wont or can’t be changed to connect to a new section but I don’t think it was designed that way.
