In fairness, the water park is in both North and South Carolina.

According to the Carowinds Park Map (https://cdn-cloudfront.cfauthx.com/bina ... ng-map.pdf), the line goes through the middle of it.

While the address might physically be in NC, the park definitely straddles the line. As far as I understand it, that line is a true line. Rides in SC are inspected by SC, and those in NC are inspected by NC.

Also according to RCDB, the only operating coasters in south carolina are The Swamp Fox, Twist and Shout, and the Kiddie Coaster, all credits at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach (all of which I have ridden) But i see your point that carowinds straddles the boarder.

Edit: There is also an SBF spinner at Pavillion Park also in Myrtle Beach, SC

2020 will likely see some sort of Carolina Harbor addition and just general park refurbishment to spruce things up.

The ride was still standing until late October 2018 over 2 years after the incident. They started demolition October 30th, 2018.

That is because they can't separate them into 2 states on that website unless they create 2 separate entries, so it's not necessary (actually he likely could but it's not that big a deal). The offices and actual postal address for Carowinds are on the NC side of the park, that's why they are listed in NC on RCDB. Also all the rides with control booths in SC have to be inspected by SC officials (as all those in NC have to be inspected by NC). The location of the control booth/station determines the state it's in by their standards, even if the track crosses the state line.

That's because "Carowinds" is in North Carolina. They'd have to split the park in their database to make it work. Honestly, if I were running RCDB, I would allow an override of state and country for a ride, but I'm not.

its so divided, national geographic says its in sc, but it's google page says its in nc, so does rcdb.

FORT MILL OR CHARLOTTE, TAKE YOUR PICK.

The park will have 8 acres of space within park boundaries next year. Hopefully they can slide a full-service restaurant somewhere in there?

As for 2020, at the risk of turning this thread into a wishlist thread, what if the park went back to Mack for one of these?

They’re even cheaper and take up less space than a splash battle while accomplishing the same thing. On top of that, they’re extremely high capacity. It’d be something to fill the gap of a major water ride, at least in the short term.

Yeah, I'm thinking more and more that 2020 is going to be the year they rip out the rest of the decades old Paramount-era garbage like the Jukebox Diner, Burrito Cafe, the long-broken mist structure by Cyclone, etc.

There really are a lot of small areas in the park that haven't been touched in twenty years and it gets increasingly obvious every season as Cedar Fair redoes more and more of the property.

Those are actually a fun little ride. My kids love it.
