I go to MB every year too. I ride swamp fox every time I go as well. even though it's rough, this ride hits close to home. I hope they don't tear it down yet, but I do hope they retrack it soon.

There's even an obvious "mine" already in place, it just requires some sheets of plywood to complete. It'd take less than a day of work, plus whatever time they wanted to spend dressing it up.

Even the most memories of me getting hurt on the ride I treasure fondly.
(THIS IS ABOUT THE SWAMP FOX AND IT IS VERY OFF TOPIC)
(in fact, if any of you would like to start off a "roller coaster true stories" forum, that'd be great)
I remember my first time to Family Kingdom, I was maybe 5 or 6 years old. I was too short to ride the swamp fox, and I was incredibly upset.
Maybe a year or two later, I came back to the park, and I was eventually tall enough.
I was a solo rider, and my mother asked another kid my age to ride with me, and he seemed to be fine with it.
This ride seemed to be the most intense ride I went on at the time, I remember going over those airtime hills, clutching that single-position lap-bar screaming, "OH MY GOD" over and over.
Later on I came to the park more frequently, The ride seemed to get rougher, but I still loved it nonetheless.
I came to the park with some friends from my neighborhood.
I sat in the very back seat when the ride op said something like, "Hope you survive" as I replied, "It won't be worse than nighthawk!"
It almost was.
after that first drop I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen and the space between my legs.
I kept being pushed into my friend back and forth, back and forth, until that ride was over.
Then I switched to the front row for the rest of the rides I got that night.

I will probably go back again this year, and ride it again, no matter how rough it may get.

Swamp Fox Forever!

Ok, we really need to get back on track.

So this concept is essentially a re-tooled version of my Granny's Mansion concept. Only this time, the Granny theme is dropped entirely and the ride is your standard haunted house shooter attraction.

The other part where this differs is that instead of using projection mapping for the effects, the ride would use augmented reality glasses. So the physical aspect of the ride is kept as you pass through real sets, but the effects are achieved through AR.

Since the effects are media-based, this means that more time can be spent improving the ride system. Namely, something similar to the Omnimover:

The surrounding area around the attraction would be renamed "Hickory Hollow", and the area would have a forbidden forest feel to it. Think Mystic Timbers, but as an entire area rather than a ride. This is what it would cover:

ooh, that's interesting. Carowinds needs a high capacity dark ride, and the omnimover system would totally fix that issue.

Except for the part where high capacity dark rides only work when you have a popular IP to fill them with, and I don't see Cedar Fair spending millions to build a Peanuts dark ride.

his idea was to build a forbidden frontier dark ride (the only example I can think of is the Pistolero Roundup at Family Kingdom) or revert back to the granny's mansion idea.

Tell that to Kings Islands Omnimover...

Which I never understood why they have NOT made that into a regular peanuts dark ride???

Now that’s an idea I would like to see some suggestions on.

I love Boo Blasters but the guns never seem to be properly functioning v

I'm talking about the one at kings islands. I feel that could properly be converted well into one. The version at carowinds should just be gutted and thrown away. Too small of a building.

So this is my idea for how to renovate Goldrusher. I know other parks' decisions don't directly affect Carowinds, but since Knott's is "plussing" Bigfoot Rapids by turning it into Calico River Rapids, I figured Carowinds could do the same with Goldrusher.

Introducing Goldrusher: 50th Anniversary

Yellow line indicates enclosed track

Like I said a few posts ago, I think Goldrusher has the potential to be a great family coaster, but its height requirement isn't doing it any favors. Change the trains and add some theming, and suddenly you've got one of the premier attractions at the park.

Here are the new features introduced to the ride:

1. Mine shaft. The first turn and the turn under Vortex would be enclosed in a tunnel themed to a mine shaft. Aesthetically, it would look similar to this, but there would be lanterns lining the tunnel. They would swing and flicker as the trains passed by.

2. The area by the transfer track would be completely enclosed into a showbuilding. There would be animatronics of miners excavating and transferring gold nuggets. Think something similar to this scene from Calico Mine Ride, but on a much smaller scale. After passing by this scene, riders would see a sign reading "explosives", which would lead into:

3. The dynamite room. This would have the first lift hill enclosed, and at the top of the lift hill, there would be crates full of dynamite. However, instead of an explosion (since that's already been done by Mystery Mine and BTMRR), the crates would tip over of the top of the lift similar to the falling crate that used to be in Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion.

4. Geysers. They would blast water as the train passed by (similar to Maverick)

5. Black Bear Cave. The first helix would be completely enclosed, and the entrance to it would be themed to a cave, with a sign outside warning of bears. As riders pass through, they would pass by a black bear animatronic similar to the grizzly animatronic for Calico River Rapids.

6. Fire Tower. I actually couldn't think of something that would work thematically, but I figured it would look nice as far as scenery goes. The lift hill would just pass under it.

7. The final tunnel into the brake run would be lengthened, and inside, there would be several hundred hanging bat figures screeching. They wouldn't have to be animatronics, as the effect could be achieved by props and audio.

Overall, I think this would be a great way to revitalize the attraction while at the same time, being able to sell it as new. It would also justify adding new trains, or even modifying the current ones as a lower height requirement would give the park its best family attraction yet.

If I was going to have “wish” I woukd do 2 rides that interact with each other (in either the DA area or RRR).
- Say you would do an over sized log flume splash down (intimin does 20 person flumes and does coasters?) With a coaster built around it.

Theme: Hang glider in the mountains themed coaster, white water rafting themed log ride.

So as you are going around on the boat, coaster is soaring over your head. The splashdown final drop wave would land near the edge of coaster as they fly past.

Views on the coaster would be epic as you trail back and forth over the river. Views on the boat would be fun watching the coaster scream overhead. Ending where every few rides wave and coaster line up would be thrilling for everyone.

In response to the post above-
I like the idea of two coasters interacting with each other, but the DA plot isn't super huge.
I was thinking either a single GCI and a new area OR (this will be a huge stretch) A duelling GCI or gravity group like Dauling Dragons (china) or lightning racer (USA)

Not two coasters - a large flume and a coaster above it...
If the area can fit one coaster or dueling coasters (your idea), it can fit one coaster with something underneath (my idea). TBH I would like your idea as well!
Something like this would be pretty unique to my knowledge, and be pretty themed to Carolinas as well.

Tarheel, I REALLY like the idea of upgrading Goldrusher in a couple spots!!
