I think we will see less staffing issues once they get the dorm finished, although when schools are still in session it may continue to be an issue.

Drove by this evening. All the rides were going, including CS. Went to video it from the exit of the parking lot, but they decided to stop it at the second launch while I was recording.

Forgot to mention that my son said it looked like the train on Afterburn was faced backward. Don't know if that's been that way, if he was even right, or if that's something to expect this year.

They would have to be different trains to be ran backwards. Six Flags had 2 (maybe three) new trains commissioned for the Batman backwards runs that had to rotate around to each park as these trains themselves cannot simply be turned around. So they’re not backwards, unless they got new trains that can face backwards and that’s likely something they’d have announced.

Not sure if you guys saw, but the Carolina Panthers are looking to possibly move the headquarters and practice facility to South Carolina. The rumored locations are in Rock Hill. York, and Lancaster counties. All of which are close to Carowinds. According to the Panther's owner the site could feature hotels, dining, and a sports medicine facility along with the Panthers' offices and practice facility.

I feel Carowinds would benefit a ton from this if it were to happen. I dont think there would be any kind of official partnership but I think Carowinds could get a boost in attendance being so close to the facility. What do you guys think?

Maybe? Most people go to a training camp for a day or two. While there's an overlap in football/coaster fans, I don't know that it's enough to even add a tick to the attendance numbers, even if they were next door to each other.

I could see them offering discounted tickets to training camp visitors, and the hotel might see an uptick in bookings. I’m not gonna pretend to be knowledgeable about the logistics of this, but Spartanburg seems to have benefited from having training camp, so I think it could be a win-win for both parties involved.

Wouldn't it still, essentially, be the same distance as the current location in charlotte?

The distance between the park and the team headquarters would be roughly the same, but the jump from Spartanburg to Rock Hill for the training camp would be pretty significant, and probably what matters more to the park.

I see. the article first paragraph is misleading stating, as followed . . .
COLUMBIA, SC
No contract has been signed, but the Carolina Panthers and S.C. lawmakers are working on a deal to move the professional football team’s headquarters and training facilities out of Charlotte and across the border into South Carolina.

But further reading showed they don't have their own training facility and uses the college facilities in spartanburg.

I frequent Spartanburg and I haven't noticed any change when the training camp is going on at Wofford. So in my opinion moving the training camp would not make a difference. Moving the headquarters, practice space, and medical services would make a lasting economic impact but I don't think it would be of any great benefit to Carowinds in attendance.

They have their practice fields in uptown Charlotte which they utilize throughout the season. For training camp during the summer the team travels to Wofford in Spartanburg.

Rumors are that the facility could be near the state line where the old Charlotte Knights stadium used to be. Some also speculate it could pave the way for a new stadium in that area too, but that is speculation at this point.

I hadn't heard that rumor and was going to suggest that area when I made my post above. I took it out, as there wouldn't really be a strong need for hotels in that area, and not much space to put it in, once you put in a field or two, a couple of buildings, and ample parking.
