General Carowinds discussion

Here’s all my thoughts:

- Carowinds did not hold back at all with the theming on this thing. Parts of the queue and the barn as a whole just about put parks like Dollywood to shame, which is saying a LOT.

- The ride really surprised me. The parts I was expecting a lot from didn’t do a whole lot to me, and the parts I had dismissed in the animations are what I enjoyed the most. Those twists before the brake run are an absolute blast and the tiny bump leading into the brake run is nuts. On the flip side, while there is certainly airtime on the second launch, don’t expect to be rocketed out of your seat.

- The barn is amazing! Lots of details that I missed watching the official POV. Won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say there are plenty of surprises in Granny’s barn.

- The hang time on the jojo roll and first loop are out of this world.

- I know a lot of complaints about the ride when it was announced were about how slow the launches were. After getting the chance to ride it, I think it all works in the ride’s favor. Copperhead Strike is by no means a speed demon, but it’s not supposed to be. Even with a top speed of 50, the coaster feels like it just won’t let up.

- Overall, it’s such a fun ride. It’s a nice contrast to the “balls-to-the-wall” coasters we have in the forms of Fury and Afterburn. While I love those two to death, I can only ride them so much before I gotta take a mental break. Copperhead on the other hand is just plain fun and super easy to reride over and over and over again.

For those of you who have yet to ride Copperhead Strike, you’re in for a treat. It’s a perfect fit for Carowinds and I cannot wait to hear everyone’s thoughts on it!

I had a great time at the media event today. I am very appreciative to have been an auction winner and get to come out to the park today. I am also glad the auction money is going to a reputable charity such as Make-A-Wish.

I was in the 6th row for my first ride, on the right seat. The hangtime during the Jojo roll is insane, the lap bar really makes the hangtime great. If it was an OTSR, that hangtime would be ruined. The show that goes on in the launch barn is well done, and exceeded my expectations. I am not going to go into detail about what the show consists of, i'll let you guys watch the videos or experience it yourself.

The first launch is faster than I expected. I obviously know it is only 42 mph, but it felt faster, and it did have some force, especially towards the end. The hangtime in the first loop is nuts, feels like it is going to rollback at any moment. The second launch is awesome. While it's not very forceful, it doesn't need to be. Accelerating while going over a hill is awesome in itself. The tophat does not have as much hang time as shown in the animation for the ride, but that's okay. It still has plenty, just not as much as the animation. The second loop does not have as much hang time as the first loop, but its still fun. The element that goes through the first loop is REALLY fun. It caught me off guard. The rest of the ride is very twisty and fun. It isn't all that fast, but it's a good speed.

The ride doesn't need to be super tall or super fast to be good. If you want that, you can find it at the back of the park! Copperhead is very re-rideable, and is something everybody can enjoy, whether you ride or watch from the midway.

Overall, this ride exceeded my expectations. I managed to get three rides on it today, and will look to get more this weekend. This ride is seriously making me question whether it is my second favorite in the park. Previously afterburn was. I'll need to ride both some more to determine that.

I was glad to get the chance to go today, was on the third dispatched train of first rider. Everything was very organized, lockers were free to use for the event so grateful to the park for that. To the user here asking about seats and how accommodating they are, they seem to be just a tad bit more roomy than clamshell seats so if you can ride Fury you shouldn’t have any issue here. The ride is very fun, there is hangtime, there is airtime, and there are even a couple snappy moments as well. Look forward to riding it at night and in the front row.

I missed you Chris so if you’re there tomorrow let me know lol.

If you ain’t seen it on Reddit or elsewhere here are some pics I took https://imgur.com/a/gRhiqCv

Yup, during testing this morning on Copperhead, an employee riding lost a few fingers after hitting a support. Ride is expected to be down for a few weeks while Mack works on a new support solution.

Please don't do this. This is how incorrect rumors get started.
