General Carowinds discussion

Carowinds Sully wrote:I rode CS last night on the 7th row and I was extremely impressed. Carowinds has an extremely unique ride on its hands. I am in total agreement with everything that has been commented in the last few posts so I am not going to repeat what has already been said.

On that note, the theming in the queue line has not really been mentioned yet and HOLY CRAP IF YOU LOOK AROUND THERE IS SO MUCH STUFF TO TAKE IN! There were a few things that I loved. First, I thought that it was very clever to use the symbol of flowers to show what was Granny's and what wasn't. The front porch displayed this very well as everything was themed to look beaten and broken down (which looked very convincing) but there were these vibrantly colored flowers that were riddled throughout the scene. As well, flowers were painted on the bath curtain and the front door to stress the idea that that house was GRANNY'S. The thing that blew me most away with the theming was the inclusion of the outhouses. At first sight, I was very confused on why there were three outhouses in a row. Is that really necessary? I saw what they stood for, though, and got super stoked. I saw the flowers on the middle outhouse and knew that that outhouse was Granny's. That left a tall and skinny outhouse on the left and a short and fat (the wood is bent outwards to give it a "rounded" look) outhouse on the right. The tall outhouse had car parts around it and the shorter one had a bag of fertilizer behind it. I remembered to the beginning of the queue where there was the silhouette of a short, fat guy and a tall, skinny guy and realized that the outhouses are symbols for Granny's sons. All in all, 3 outhouses were able to tell a story that there are 3 characters: Granny and her two sons. Granny has a fan behind her outhouse to get out fumes (ie Moonshine or just the aftermath of Taco Tuesday). One of her sons is a mechanic who mods his cars in order to smuggle the moonshine and the other son is the one who grows the corn for the moonshine. WHO KNEW OUTHOUSES COULD BE SO IMPORTANT TO TELLING A STORY? On top of this, Carowinds put whole cars and tractors in the queue line for crying out loud which is just uncalled for but I am so happy that they put them there. Round of applause to the person who came up with all of these small details that the large majority of people will look over. All of these details added to the overall experience and made Copperhead Strike more unique and memorable. I can't wait to go back to Carowinds and see what else I missed but I hope that this is the start of a new era for Carowinds.

On another note, did anyone else feel that the ride, mostly in the station, felt a little unfinished? I saw some hanging wires in the line that were not hooked up, there wasn't any music playing in the background in the queue, and the station did not have the announcer recording that all other Carowinds rides have.

PS to anybody at Carowinds, I would love it if you make a "Rise n' Shine" T-shirt. I would totally buy because that logo is really cool

Is your imagination running wild or was this verbalized somewhere?

I would. Riding by myself Friday nite my first impression was mini-Maverick, which is what I texted to all my geek friends that weren’t here this weekend. Then later that nite and early Saturday, several people that I casually follow on social media made the same or similar comments. After yesterday, I still think that, and my friend that rose yesterday agreed. Maverick is his #1 and he thought it was a mini-Maverick.

*rode* . . .

I mean if you are just looking at the coaster I can see why people wouldn't feel like it's a mini maverick coaster but riding it, with the quick transitions and quick moments of air, I def see how it can be consider a tamer, more re-ridable version of it. And it's fat boy friendly so it gets a  in my book!

Lol, my imagination was running pretty wild but check it out the next time you are in line. The details around it are too obviously placed to be an accident

I took a couple shots this afternoon. Finally got back to try Copperhead some, got three rides in with all three in the first car. This thing is certainly growing on me, could feel the positives G’s, transitions (Stengel I guess we’re calling it and s-curve feel awesome with those lapbars), and airtime feels stronger there. Hoping to ride at night in front row for the full experience. This ride also feels just the right length, it isn’t too much to where just the masochists will enjoy it. Really happy with the ride.

After spending majority of the day at the park today, I’d like to say this. I cannot believe it, but I think Copperhead MIGHT be my favorite coaster in the park.

It’s probably my favorite is overall attraction in the park, everything is so well-executed that it feels on another level than Carowinds as an experience.

CCookieMonster wrote:Thanks for the pictures! Those are really good quality photos. Is the ride in complete darkness with just the headlines on at night just like the Instagram video?

Yes, that area is pitch black at night save for the lights and the queue. It really sells the backwoods mountain aspect of the ride.

Glad i'm not the only one. I think I may like Copperhead more than Fury. Please don't crucify me. Maybe it's because it's new, but I just really enjoy the ride.
