General Carowinds discussion

I rode this for the first time yesterday. The theming is great, and I enjoyed the first launch more than I thought I would. I think I set my expectations a little too high, though -- I was hoping for a 9/10 ride, but it was more an 8/10 for me. Maybe it's because I was assigned to the third row instead of the front or back. I didn't really have a fantastic ride on any coaster yesterday, though -- not even Fury. Not really sure why.

I'm definitely looking forward to more rides on this, though (front row, night, etc.). I remember being slightly disappointed with Fury the first time I rode it, too, but I eventually grew to really love the ride (even if yesterday's ride wasn't as great). Hopefully the same will be true for this.

Got to ride Copperhead Strike for the first time yesterday and I really loved it! Its not the fastest, tallest, or most intense ride by any means, but it is downright FUN. I actually really love the hangtime on the inversions. The twists and turns in-between the inversions are really nice and give the pacing a nice "stop-n-go" effect. Overall I think the ride is very unique and it adds a nice change of pace to the lineup at Carowinds.

My only gripe with the ride is I think the on-ride camera needs to be adjusted somehow. Not sure if it's just the time of day or if the screens in the photo booth are bad, but the pictures looked very dark. I could not make out anything on the screens.

Is that a bad thing?!?!?

Look guys, for what it is worth, Copperhead is a great addition to the line up the park already has. Personally, I stop rating and ranking coasters a long time ago because it kinda takes the fun out of what they are meant for in the first place - to provide fun and enjoyment, an escape from the hustle and bustle of reality.

If I had to say anything negative it would be that fast lane is KILLING capacity on Copperhead and the gliders. I don't know if the park can come up with a better system to handle the flow of fast lane where it reduces your wait time vs eliminate it but I almost flipped on the glides when it took forever to ride because groups of 4-8 kept coming up and immediately getting on.

That was our only gripe Friday as well. After we got off we watched our train launch again from the viewing window, so by the time we got to the photo booth the photos had already cycled to the next train. We ask the lady working behind the counter if she could find our photos. Our two daughters were in one row and my wife and I were right behind them in the next row. We wanted to buy the first time ride photos for both rows. The lady we ask looked for our photos on one computer and she got another lady to help her look on another computer as well. After about 5 or 10 minutes she said she was sorry but they couldn't find us on the photos. As they were looking through the photos I was watching the current photos come up on the screenand I noticed there were several dark areas of the train where you could barely see the people at all. I figure that must have been about the area we were in.

This has been my fear with Fastlane since they first introduced it. At some point it gets to the point that there are too many being sold and you are now basically forcing people to buy them. I get trying to make an extra buck where you can and this is one way to do that but when it becomes a detriment to your paying guests experiences then you have a problem.

So Sunday night Copperhead went down 5 mins before closing, and at 8:15 they announced that it would not be reopening that day. To make it up to us they allowed us to close down the night on Fury! They gathered the 30 of us in front of CS's lockers and walked us in a group escorted by a large amount of park security over to Fury, where we all got double rides 45 minutes after the park closed.
Huge props to the park for taking care of guests like this, awesome way to go above and beyond!

I rode it right around 1 PM. Was a perfect day, so maybe it is the sunlight. If that is the case they may need to adjust the camera either physically readjust it or if there are any settings you can apply to help with contrast/brightness. I only rode once so maybe its just every once in a while the camera sucks.

Yo I was in that group! Woulda said hi if I knew who you were lol. But yeah the park was super cool about letting us get a couple rides on Fury last night. Hate it for them because obviously it’s not the ride ops’ fault that the coaster went down

All I can think is how much that must have sucked for the employees. I know they probably have to stay behind to help close anyway, but I just hope they got some sort of reward out of it for their efforts.

Then again, they may have volunteered, so who knows?

I mean if you are just looking at the coaster I can see why people wouldn't feel like it's a mini maverick coaster but riding it, with the quick transitions and quick moments of air, I def see how it can be consider a tamer, more re-ridable version of it. And it's fat boy friendly so it gets a  in my book!

I was very happy that it was big boy friendly, just a little rough on the bigger ones like myself. Waited 3 hours for my ride Saturday and was impressed.

Also, my wait in line was beside two KD employees and I was so pleased that they never once said negative things about the park. Actually on of them is going to be working Cedar Point this year for the first time. They were also very impressed with CS but they love Fury 325.

If you’re gonna wait three hours in a line at least it’s nice to have friendly people to talk to.
