This is interesting. Pat saying the next addition is going to be her next biggest baby. That to me screams more than just a crossroads revamp, unless it has a lot to it. Who knows.

In regards to the poster in BRCK, if I had to guess it was intended to be one of the teaser signs for the wall (the others from the teaser wall can also be found in BRCK), but perhaps they decided not to as it would’ve gave away the appearance of the train or “Crossroads Reborn” would have made it sound like an addition to Crossroads but as we know Blueridge Junction is its own area. In other words I’m not reading too much into it but it is a cool poster nonetheless.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that while the park stated that the Rapids would be “retired”, they never outright confirmed that it would be demolished, since they supposedly don’t know what they’re going to do with it. Now whatever is happening in Rapids’ location might be a 2021 addition, if they really don’t have plans at the moment, but I would not discount the possibility of a refurbishment similar to Calico if the next project is supposed to be Pat’s “new baby” to outdo Copperhead Strike.

I never counted out a redo of rapids. I am probably one of the few who could see it opening refurbished. The park specifically said “Rip Roarin Rapids is being retired”. That could mean so many things. It could open rethemed, and technically RRR itself is retired.

I am just glad that the park is still going to be getting awesome things in the future, and they aren’t finished. I know the season just started, and copperhead just opened, but I am anxious to see what’s coming next.

When did Pat start talking about future projects?

It could just be some decor, but one detail I noticed was the drag race Christmas tree lights. Each bulb has a year, with 2021 being the one that's lit.

Wasn’t 30th the day that Copperhead Strike was announced?

Plus the fact that it's the nature of the job, to continuously look to the future. If you stand there admiring the work you've just completed, you get fired.

Unless something changes over night, the rapids decision came after things were being finalized for next year. I wouldn't expect anything in the rapids area until, at the least, 2022. Reason being, they sort of knew WWF was going away in 2016 when they started reaching out for the product we now know as Copperhead Strike. I feel the park knew the rapids was on life support but was still holding out hope so it's eminent removal wasn't in the near future.

Even in january, from my understanding, the park was weighing their options on what to do with it as removing it wasn't the only option at that point. I don't know what happen between then and winter warm up but I think it was a combination of not being worth it and the land was more valuable for something better. So that's why I feel whatever they plan on doing to the rapids site won't happen for another 2 seasons. But you never know . . .

I'm inclined to agree with coasterbruh.

2020 will still most likely be a waterpark addition along with some cosmetic upgrades to the stuff they didn't really mess with during the remodel into Carolina Harbor. Whatever happens to the Dinosaurs area will probably be 2021 (hopefully with a Crossroads facelift) and Rapids will be 2022 (hopefully with a Thrill Zone facelift).

Regardless, I don't expect to see any 2020 construction begin before Labor Day.
