General Carowinds discussion

Honestly it'd be better to just do crossroads for next year so then the whole back section of the park is brand new rather then doing thrill zone and nothing else around the area because it would just be weird to have one area brand new over on that side of the park and the rest looks really old. I have a feeling in this next decade they'll start to renovate the front section of the park.

Gonna go into wishlist mode (implying that I'm ever not  ), but I think it'd be really nice, as well as cost-effective, if they made the section of Crossroads east of Copperhead Strike into a garden/grove. Maybe even relocate the greenhouses back here in place of the PvZ queue.

Aesthetically, something like Elizabeth Gardens in the Outer Banks would look great:

Really, it's just some landscaping and path renovations, so it doesn't require extensive theming. Plants vs. Zombies would actually fit appropriately, and it would keep this section as a "chill area" to escape the rest of the park.

All I want out of a Crossroads revamp is removal of PvZ. Anything else is just icing on the cake. I know it’d be epeensive, but while you’re at it taking PvZ out, just demolish that theater already. Hasn’t had a good attraction since Spongebob.

Tbh I’d also rather see that plot of land used for something better. But being realistic, it’s a high-capacity, relatively low-maintenance indoor attraction and the park does not have an abundance of those. It has at least another 5-10 years at the park before they look into replacing it: Plus, while it’s not necessarily fitting for the Carolinas, it’s pretty well-themed, and I’d hate to lose that queue theming from the park.

Since they use the other half of PvsZ for other events, I don't see them demolishing it unless or until they have another indoor venue that can house those events. ... for example, they have a Choral music festival there every year at the same time the Carowinds Theater is housing the Orchestra and Band festivals.

I'm not saying NOT to tear it down... the park needs a second public theater for another indoor entertainment option anyway so I I would be all for new construction.

Odd thought what if we get what Cedar Point is getting with Forbidden Frontier at Rip Roaring Rapids location. I thought about it and I was thinking a new smurf island but forgot Smurfs are owned by Paramount still i think. Plus we have snoopy so that is out of the picture. But I have a feeling that is what 2020 will hold for us.

I still think we will see a crossroads redo. Spruce up the area, and replace the YoYo with something better. That thing is pointless with the park having Zephyr, Windseeker, AND the swings in camp snoopy.

I hope so. I've always thought of that area as a dead-end area since I started going to Carowinds back in the early 80's. The only good thing back there was TR. (I did like it better when Frenzoid was back there on the lake) Now that CS has opened up the western end of it, maybe they'll do something about it.

There's so much room there, too. I don't know why we need 6 different luck games there, but they are so wasted.

Take out the games. Refurb PvZ to something else. Remove the swings.

Bring in one or two new flats, one more thrilling and one more kid-friendly. Take the games that were moved and readjust in the new setup; the new traffic might expand their use.

To me, it seems like the logical next step. Make everything look nice on that end of the park, put some pavers down, and a few new flats.

When you’re in blue ridge junction, it looks awesome. Then you walk towards dodgems to enter crossroads, and it’s a bare, ugly mess.

At the risk of turning this into a wishlist thread, here’s my hopes for the Rapids plot. I have a feeling it’ll be empty for a couple years. What I’m hoping for there is a new, smaller themed area with a coaster and a flat, not unlike what we saw in Blue Ridge Junction this year.

As for 2020, my money is on Crossroads or maybe they will finally get around to doing a full overhaul of the plaza.

I doubt it. I think RRR will be boarded up for this season and maybe the next. I think crossroads will get an overhaul, maybe see PvZ go, and maybe some more greenery around the park. I think 2023-2025 and beyond is where our RRR plot will eventually open up with a new area.

Does anybody think RRR could still be running this season, like even though they closed it if they wanted to just run it for a day, (I know they wouldn't but just think if the ride could still work) everything would probably still work because the boats, conveyors, and everything is still there. nothing has been touched. heck, an umbrella is still open along the course of it where the employee would sit. I wonder if the park just closed it just to close it and the ride actually can still function properly. Just a thought.
