That's all relative as Kings islands did, in fact, remove a coaster and it could be the prep that would be needed for a coaster. Valley Fair (as far as I have saw) has been doing some dirt moving for some time. When did some heavy movement start for the dive coaster at wonderland? It is still kinda early to base it off ground work.

Wonderland isn't really a good example because they built the tunnel under the lake during the 2017-2018 offseason. I'm mostly basing it off the fact that groundwork was already underway for CS at this point last year and that's a similar timeframe for most coasters. Universal is already in groundwork for their 2020/2021 JP coaster, and I recall that groundwork was well underway by early May for Lightning Rod. I think Steel Curtain was well into ground prep this time last year as well.

I'm pretty sure if something was already being fabricated for the Volcano site they would have started demo in late 2018, so whatever replaces it likely won't open before 2021.

We def cant compare Universal's coaster construction as they build attractions and not just coasters plopped on land. All I am saying is it's too early to write a coaster coming to a cedar fair off.

I don't disagree, but to give a better example the 2020 RMC Gwazi conversion has been underway for a bit now. I don't think we'll see a major coaster at a Cedar Fair park before 2021 because trying to compete with the spaceships a certain mouse is building is a losing proposition.

We all know the RMC conversions take a while as they have to deconstruct and then reconstruct . . .

If we are gonna "go there" does west coast racers even have supports up? That opens this year lol.

No other park is competing with Disney, especially a chain like Cedar Fair. The closest Cedar fair park to Disney world is over 8 hours away and to Disneyland is 6 hours. They Disney is a once in a life time vacation for most Americans. It's definitely not an every summer option as if someone was deciding between SFoG and Carowinds. I Highly doubt opening the star wars land has any effect on what any other park chain does, besides MAYBE Universal.

SFMM is a poorly run craphole that hasn't managed to get a ride open on time in nearly a decade, plus it's in SoCal where the season runs year round.

Also I'm pretty sure Cedar Fair has a park less than an hour from Disneyland which might make them inclined to strategize based upon their ability to attract tourists, but I'm just some guy.

I forgot about Knotts, which was able to still survive being miles away from disneyland so I doubt the opening of star wars land will really cause them to not add something as this is nothing new to them. It's all about demographics. Even being virtually up the street from each other, they still manage to be two of the top parks in their chains. Disneyland doesn't scare knotts and vice versa.

You're right, and I think we're both falling down the rabbit hole of a silly debate. I still think that at the end of the day, Cedar Fair doesn't plan to add a major coaster at any of its gates for 2020 which was my (poorly stated) original point.

This is just ME........ but if someone gave me a choice one day to go to Disneyworld or Disneyland vs a park like Carowinds, Kings Island, Cedar Point. I'd choose the park with the big coasters. LOL
