General Carowinds discussion

Cedar Point and Wonderland both added a dive
Coaster for their 17th(!) coaster. So if y’all want to use those kind of metrics, we need two more coasters before we get a dive coaster.

I have a feeling we’re going to see a major coaster for whatever coaster we get next. Why? Well Steve said that copperhead strike was to be more designed as a family coaster which it kind of is. I could see a dive coming to carowinds in the future. I’d like to see a compact one in the DA plot. Maybe something like hangtime at Knott’s. the family dryer is still at carowinds back in the maintenance building behind cyclone from the rapids.

I don't see a B&M as our next coaster... They cost a ton of money... So did Copperhead.

With the minor financial issues Cedar Fair has right now, I could see our next coaster coming between 2021-22.

The new coaster's price range would be between 10-15 million.

That's totally ok! There are a TON of awesome coasters out there that cost around that much that are amazing.

I just don't see CF spending 25-30 million on a coaster after 2020 for a few years at least.

We all know KI is getting the Giga next year.

People don't see Copperhead Strike as a major coaster because it was designed with the entire family in mind?!?!? The price tag proves otherwise . . .

We do? or we all hope and wish.

What he said.

I really hope K.i. doesn't get a GIga. More because I am partial to Carowinds and I feel we lose a little bit of our thunder that we had being the tallest giga coaster and all.

I think it's nearly inevitable at this point. Kings Island is getting something huge, obviously. I saw pictures of new B&M track that was spotted yesterday. It looked oddly similar to the lift hill track on fury or the brake runs found on wing and/or dive coasters. But I'm getting off-topic.
a lot of people are wanting a giga, but we'll just have to wait until august to see what happens.

Those look nothing alike. Dive track is much, MUCH wider than giga track.

From a recent video, there is track for 2 separate coasters. The markings on one says "MCR" which is a chocolate brown color that is most likely for Hersheypark. There are also unpainted pieces with "MCT" on them...those could be for KI's Giga (if that's what they are getting). All the track in the video is hyper track.

Actually read the financial reports before stating things that CF has financial problems. They don't.

No we don't know KI is getting a giga. It's a risk spending 30M+ considering KI's lackluster performance with big investments, like Banshee.

Discussion elsewhere (Reddit, I think) was twofold on this:

- "S" looks like "5", so it's skipped
- "S" was a failed project. Got to the internal numbering but dropped

I think the whole thing is a lot of guessing.
