I think this is a pretty cool idea, especially if it's something you're doing with your family which I think you'd mentioned before.

All of it is with my son, some with my daughter. He's gone from "Hurler? I dunno" to riding everything with the wife and I - and only since the season began. I don't trust his opinion (he has Intimidator as his favorite ), but I do enjoy having him seated next to me.

It's also because I tend to ignore the flat rides when I visit a park. I'm a big coaster fan, so would look at parks as a place for two people: coaster fans and flat fans. This gave me the opportunity to revisit some of these rides and maybe find a new non-coaster favorite to enjoy.

so, after my disappointing trip to carowinds last weekend, I think I have a date for when i'm going to return to the park. And, I took Coasterbruh's advice.

I will be returning to the park on Friday, May 17th. I hope that the park will be less crowded and i'll be able to ride Copperhead for the first time!

Just a head's up....that's an education day. There will be lots of school groups there. They usually leave by mid-afternoon however.

Also noticed the trim brakes at the bottom of the hill were back on Hurler. Don't know if they're working, but definitely installed.

I rode Hurler 3 times in a row last night. I don’t think the trim was activating, because it felt exactly the same as it did prior to the trim being installed. Tons of airtime, and it was hauling.

I actually really like Hurler as it’s running now. If it stays this way, no reason for RMC to lay a finger on it in my opinion.

D'OH! I don't want school groups there! That's the entire point of going on a friday!

However, looking at the actual education days agenda, the groups will probably not ride many rides because most of the day is filled with educational activities, and not much else. The schedule on Carowinds website says they'll be there from 8:30 to 2:00. That means they'll be there thirty minutes before I should be there. I think I'll be fine, just saying that all of the school groups are not going to be riding anything- at least that's what the website says.

I agree. My teeth weren't rattling as much in the first turn, but I think that's because I'm used to it by now.

You make an assumption that everyone leaves at 2:00. Most schools will probably stay until late afternoon. There are also random schools that will show up that day, too, and hang out in the park. This doesn't include the bands and choruses that come, too.

My experience on Fridays so far: The park is pretty busy during the late morning and early afternoon. As the school groups slowly leave, the park opens up a bit (around 4 or 5) for the evening.

I plan to be there from opening time until 9:30-10:00. I think the date may change over time due to my schedule anyways, but the 17th seems to be the only logical date so far.

If you think education days means kids won’t be riding rides, you’re very mistaken. The reason they have ‘education days’ is because schools don’t often allow non educational field trips. So the park offers this as a way to offer an education experience to get schools to bring lots of kids.

They’ll be riding rides. But the lines will calm down around 6-7 pm.

Exactly what Edwardo said. I once asked to look at the piece of paper for someone in line during the education days. They had to ride different rides based on different science terms.
So it looked like this...

Inertia ______________________
Potential Energy _____________
Kinetic Energy _______________
etc, etc, etc

And they had to ride a ride that reflects each of the words.
