2020: New Waterslide
2021: New GCI Woodie on RRR plot of land
2022: Flat Ride
2023: Antique Cars
2024: RMC Hurler or Raptor or T-Rex from RMC

I do not think you will see a major B&M for a while at Cedar Fair parks... To me, that is perfectly ok!

I think the park will still add 2 coasters a year to its parks but they will be in the range of 10-15 million each, not 25-30 million.

Rides like - Hangtime, RailBlazer, RMC Conversions, GCI or Gravity Group woodies. I would be perfectly ok with a Premier Sky Rocket ll as well!

So what are you 5-year predictions?

I think that in 2020 we should get a HUSS Frisbee like Maxair at Cedar Point because that would be amazing and maybe in a couple years we could get a S&S Screamin Swing. What would be even better is that if we got both at the same time in the spot where Rip Roarin Rapids was.

I don't know about that S&S since that screamin swing at CP had that accident a few years back.
Does anyone know if an S&S has been built in the chain since then since I don't know

I feel like I've got a more clearly defined idea in my head of what the next five years will be like, though this could just amount to wishful thinking:

2020: Crossroads renovation and Carolina Harbor expansion. I'm thinking Yo-Yo finally leaves. It won't be removed from the ride closures list until daily operations start, and it's redundant with two other similarly-sized swing attractions in the park. I think the area behind it/part of PvZ's queue gets replaced with an Antique Autos attraction similar to KI's.

For the water park, a new slide or slide complex that will require the reconfiguration of the lazy river, or just expand into the area where TR's turnarounds used to be.

2021: RRR's plot of land gets taken over by something like Forbidden Frontier at Cedar Point. Perfect way to re-introduce Frontier Outpost, and it's a relatively cost-friendly investment.

2022: Floorless conversion of Vortex. General infrastructure improvements and miscellaneous park upgrades.

2023: 50th anniversary. This is the year I see as the next "landmark year" for Carowinds. I'm not one who thinks parks add coasters solely for the sake of anniversaries (because they don't), but it will have been four years since Copperhead Strike. So I'm predicting a new coaster/area in Dinosaur's Alive's plot of land, along with a renovation of the south gate.

2024: This is hard to predict, only because by 2023, the park will be more or less "complete". So maybe it will be a small to mid-sized flat ride, or even something with Planet Snoopy. Guess we'll just have to wait.

I completely agree with your 2020 plans. If they remove yo-yo they have all that land behind it and they can rip out the extra queue of plants vs zombies and you have a decent plot of land, they’d just have to flatten it out. They can even rename it hillbilly jalopies and it’s in the same section as it was before. As far as Carolina harbor goes, I either see an expansion coming 2020 or 2021. Right now I’m thinking 2020.
Below is how far they can go out with the land. I think they’re able to put antique cars in there.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Hurler isn't going anywhere anytime soon. If they were to rmc/remove it next year why did they spend alot of money on retracking this year?

Why did they spend money retracking Thunder Road if they were just going to remove it for Carolina Harbor soon after?

I don't see Hurler going quite yet, but I'd be surprised if nothing happens to it within the next five years... MAYBE the next ten if Carowinds focuses on the empty plots of land left behind by DA and RRR first.

It’s been stated many times what happened to thunder road. The park did not remove it for the water park expansion. The park removed it because once they got to the final part of the ride that needed replacing, they find out it was in far worse shape than they thought and was going to cost a lot of money. It was a fluke.

Hurler isn’t going anywhere. Trust.

Why does everybody keep saying the park will get something like Cedar Point’s Forbidden Frontier when Cedar Fair has yet to see many results from it yet?
#106935
I’d argue that they’ve already gotten results since Forbidden Frontier is supposed to be in the vein of Ghost Town Alive at Knott’s. So I think it’s a matter of when more than if, even if the theme is drastically different.

Last night I was looking at video for Knott's Calico River Rapids, and it made we wonder if they might do the same thing to our ride. Honestly both rapids rides look identical to me. Calico looks pretty good with the animatronics and spectator participation. I would not be surprised at all if we see this here next year.

Cedar Fair is removing Dinos Alive from every park as the contracts end. It would not be a stretch to see them replace an "interactive walk thru exhibit" with another interactive exhibit, this time being partial live action. Knotts had this in Ghost Town for years and Forbidden Frontier is based on that. CF also has been talking about more family stuff and spacing out big investments at parks. Another reason possibly is that Cedar Fair is trying to make places like Wonderland, Carowinds,etc...multi day/destination parks. They are adding hotels and have already added a new themed area to both that will built out more for years. When you're trying to get people to stay mutli-days as a destination park having more stuff beyond rides is important. Many people don't want to or can't do rides all day for multiple days in a row. Having a family oriented interactive attraction, which the entire family can possibly do together is good idea. I think some variation of Ghost Town/Forbidden Frontier will come to Wonderland & Carowinds soon. I would also contend that for both it might come right after their big coaster year, like happened at CP. Carowinds & Wonderland development plans seem to be very similar.

2020 - Forbidden Frontier/Ghost Town interactive addition
2021 - Refurn River Rapids and/or small waterpark expansion
2022 - Flat Ride - Giant Frisbee
2023 - ?????
2024- Coaster!!
