Well, I rode by Emerld Pointe and from the Interstate I got a clear view of Hydra Fighter 2, fully assembled! But it wasn't on the 2004 park map.

Yep, it's been closed since early summer 2003...

You're not missing out on much. It's very similar to Super Saturator, just made by a different manufacturer I think.

Also it has the vertical lift instead of a traditional lift. It was ok.

I wonder why they haven't removed it yet....

I wish I could've rode it, just to get my coaser credit to 20 ;)

I agree, it would be my 31. Anyways, Fighter is second coaster they have had. They brought but never built Lakeside Park's Shooting Star coaster.

"Thank you for your recent e-mail concerning the Hydra Fighter II. You are correct in pointing out that the Hydra Fighter II is not on the park map in 2004. The Hydra Fighter II was taken out of service in 2003. The ride was a start-up project from a Dutch company with only one other "sister attraction" in the USA, at Legoland in California. The Dutch company went out of business and manufacturer's product support was no longer available. Unfortunately, Wet'n Wild Emerald Pointe and Legoland, both took their rides out of service.

I apologize for not taking the ride down but that is a bigger question than you might think. Our hope is to redo the area in the future.

Once again, than you for your interest.

This is concerning the Hydra Fighter2. Paramont sent a few of Carowinds Maintenance staff over to High Point to evaluate the prospect of buying this water coaster for one of the other parts in the system. After reviewing the status and shape of the coaster it was determined that it was in too bad of shape to buy, ship and rebuild for one of the other parks. A few Years ago the same company that was hired to update the Borgs electronic and control system was also hired to update the Hydra Fighter. The control room is in a metal shipping crate along side of the coaster. It was most likely a good choice to leave it alone..

If it is anything like Scooby's Ghoster Coaster @ PKI (Same manufacturer and all), then I'll pass...then again, I am a CreHo...

A friend I work with used to live near the park, and did ride it, said it was boreing and not worth it at all.

New photos of the Hydra Fighter 2 in all of SBNO goodness. Hopefully it's abuse will end soon. It would like to note that all cars are on the track, it appears fully functional, and only the sign and theming have been removed.

I think I read somewhere that the manufacturer went out of business and that they are going to take it down.

Although it's been SBNO for about 2 years now. (flashbacks of Drachenfire dancing in my head)...
