What is up with that? Is it the modern-day equivalent to a gum wall? I don't see how all those hair accessories end up there accidentally.

Intimidator is such a intense, forceful, out of control ride, those things fly out of people's hair and end up there. At least that is what I heard while waiting on the brake run.

Seriously, Intimidator was such a great ride when it first opened. Now those brakes hitting are the first sound you hear when you enter the parking lot. I know this probably has been discussed before, but I think I missed the answer. Why did they have to slow that particular ride down when they allow Fury fly through the course? Is there some sort of a maintenance issue, considering they just de-braked Hurler after retracking? Intimidator should be the best B&M hyper out there but those brakes have neutered the ride.

Let's not forget that Intimidator used to run without seat-belts in it's seats! Now in 2019 we can't even touch our lap bars boarding the attraction

(Edit) Although I'm pretty certain that it was added for safety measures after the SFOT incident.

Yeah, the ride op was damn near threatening guest if they pull down on the harness. Most of us are in the habit of doing that because that is what we have always done.

That new loading procedure on Fury and Intimidator is to allow for the ride crews to access the seatbelts easier. The area supervisor told me it allows them to slightly increase the dispatches per hour on both rides.

Rides with seatbelts on the outside of the mechanical restraint aren’t affected by this new policy as those seatbelts are easily accessible after the restraint is pulled down on the rider. Think Copperhead Strike and Afterburner.

When did virtually all the water slides get a weight limit of 250lbs per person? They had a scale and all weighing folks!?!?!?

I know the scale for surfer's swell/dorsal fin started that late last year during the waterpark season, it happened right after they took slide pieces apart from surfer's swell for reasons I don't know. They also required max one tube rider for both slides then too. Also they only allow one max tube rider on blackbeard's revenge on the yellow/white slide with the huge drop because I've seen double tube riders in the past crash into the fence because they couldn't stop in the water. The following link takes you to a photo I took during the 2018 season. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRyGBxAzf94yW0fqpsItv5E6MgkXdvECnlw7VIYnU7jHqbWwqTouWqPO6Qa0brNmoVEc-Gd1TtzfkgZ/pub

Christopher Mallis wrote:Was at carowinds today. ALOT of ride operators (not just supervisors) were enforcing the “no phones/articles aloud while riding” on a bunch of rides.

Was in line for Hurler Friday afternoon when the dispatcher stopped it about a third of the way up the hill because someone had a cell phone out. She also stopped my train right after we started because someone was holding their phone.

I’d imagine CF runs it for two years because it’s cheaper than having the production company come in and bring in new sets and costumes every year.

I see.....They always have to keep cost in mind

I did get to see the show recently.... Same acts .... The good thing is they did tweak it a little bit on a few things like juggler clubs instead of rings

I've seen some people complain about the time it takes to exit the lot on a busy day.

What were the park's thoughts on closing the "corner exit" from the main parking lot? My guess is to prevent a backup on the perimeter road that leads around the lot to the "Carolina Harbor" red light exit.

I wonder if they could consider re-opening that corner exit just for traffic turning right on Carowinds Blvd. That would at least help alleviate some of the traffic building up at the "Carolina Harbor" red-light.

I usually come early during the week, park at Fury's Treble Clef", leave before closing and work my way to exit through the double-lane exit and go out next to Cabela's. I think Carowinds should somehow give better access to exiting that way. Maybe at closing consider reversing a portion of the perimeter road around the edge of the parking lot (from about the drop-off area) to funnel more traffic out by Cabela's. I can see why funneling 75%+ of the parking lot to the "Carolina Harbor" red light on a busy night would cause huge backups.

They did your idea on July 4th. Any traffic coming through the toll gates (I presume people park on the entrance road to watch, then get through the gates for free to exit?) and in the parking lot up to about where the main entrance is were blocked from driving further down the road and back onto the entrance road near Cabela's. Everyone else went toward Carolina Harbor.

It worked.... okay. I expected a delay to get out, but took over an hour to do so. We sat in one spot for 20 minutes or so with no one moving.
