Considering a very large Starbucks was just added to Celebration Plaza, I think it’s safe to say it isn’t going anywhere, as it’s essentially our Main Street, which every park ever has.

So what are the chances that Rapids’ replacement is happening next year in the form of an interactive walkthrough attraction? With park maintenance/higher-ups walking through it, it seems like something is bound to replace it soon. I can’t imagine a Forbidden Frontier attraction would take long to construct, and seeing as 2020’s shaping up to be a lower investment year, it doesn’t seem like it would be a huge blow to the budget. Hell, they can probably use the existing troughs as a path through the attraction.

Nothing is happening with RRR this year, it's far more likely that the space will be used for the next major attraction in the next five years. If we do see something smaller, it'll be in the DA area that doesn't need a bunch of groundwork.

That said, I generally believe this will be an infrastructure year for Carowinds because there's so many gaps in the new versus old that need cleaning up. I don't think it's gonna be "lower investment" either, infrastructure is expensive.

I wondered with the water park gate if that would happen but the water park does have limited hours and you wouldn't want regular park guest walking through it.

I know they still use the South Gate for guests leaving parked by the Harbor Gate, but realistically, they can probably just open a makeshift exit near the current one. It looks like they’re shifting the parking lot closer to the front gate, so soon, the South Gate will be completely redundant.

They’ll keep the structure there until they need the land for an expansion (possibly soon). They only use it for entry on Saturday’s at this point.

Let's be honest: the only reason they built the waterpark gate is to give themselves an opportunity to make it a separately ticketed attraction.

Cedar Fair has actually integrated water parks that were separately gated attractions over the last few years. So no.
