I have heard from friends that Paramount is selling the rights to Carowinds, and that there are already bidders on it including six flags and anheuser busch. Is there any truth to this or is it some crazy rumor?

Viacom has put Paramount Parks up for sale. Whether it ends up happening, who knows. Are Six Flags and Busch serious bidders? I doubt it.

Ive been doing some research on the Paramount Park chain being sold and found Cedar Fair and Universal are also likely buyers if the parks did end up being sold. Do you think this would be better or worse for the Paramount Parks, especially Carowinds if another company bought them? Also do you think if a company did buy them, would they buy them all, or maybe a select one or two?

I think they would buy out all the Paroumont Parks they wouldnt just one or two thats my guess and I think in the end Carowinds won't sell it's right to Paromount anyways. But maybe it would be a good thing and Six Flags would have bigger and better ideas if they did buy it. Doubt it though.

ya but viacom (the company that owns paramount) has been losing money. With satelitte radio and the ipod, their stock is getting lower. The movies they have put out have been box office flops too. The vice president already said that he thinks the parks will be sold by the end of the year. I dunno if it will be sold though; however. Even if it is sold, other companies would run it just as well, if not better...

I honestly can't believe this. Both this particular post, and you as a whole. Surely this is some sort of inside joke?

Well, about cedar fair, I thought that the employees were kinda annoying and I didn't think that the food was very good at knotts either (except for Ms. Knotts' Chicken Restaurant [the park was started because of that place]) .

I got some ribs for dinner the day I was there and It was like a 20 minute wait for them because some 17-year-olds were goofing off in the kitchen. Also, on all the coasters, the employees don't seem very motivated to spit out as many trains as they can per hour. They were movin slow and there was alot of fooling around goin on.

I also hated it how like on silver bullet for example, the ride op would say "Now! Who's ready to go through 6 inversions..." he went on for like 5 mins just shouting out statistics. Then he would finish with "I'll see you back here in 2 mins, 9 seconds." It was alot more than 2 mins with all his talking.

Even if Six Flags were to buy the park, which it is clear to me that they aren't, as it would appear they do not have the capital to do so. Selling one of their larger parks they they just pumped over 50 million dollars into a few years prior, as well as the entire european region, does not indicate to me at least their willingness to buy ANOTHER park, let alone an entire 5 park chain.

Also The Great South, is perhaps the worst name I've ever heard since well, Fairly Odd Coaster or Rocket Power Airtime. Not to mention there is a Six Flags park FURTHER SOUTH than Carowinds, called Six Flags Over Georgia. And by "so many improvements" do you mean overflowing garbage cans, lackadaisical employees, and constant one train op? Please stop displaying your huge SFNE boner here, that schtick is just getting really tired and irratating.

Anyway I still really doubt the park will even be sold in the first place, and sure as hell not by Six Flags. Cedar Fair maybe, Universal, Disney, or Busch, highly doubtful, as Charlotte isn't a 'destination' area. You know what would be awesome though.. if Dollywood bought the park...

And I love my Six Flags New England very much. Carowinds should be alot more like it.

And no, Six Flags parks do more improvements than garabage cans. They would put in 5-10 rides every 2 years. And they don't tear rides down to put new ones in either, OR put in RECYCLED rides. Alot like the Paramount Parks do.

I already wrote an email to Six Flags New England if they could bring the Superman Ride Of Steel down here. I'll tell you what they wrote when I get an email back.

The Six Flags Ride Rotation Program essentially started the concept of moving rides around between parks.
