"Carowinds lays off 20 full-time workers

Paramount's Carowinds amusement park has laid off 20 full-time workers as part of a long-term business plan, park officials say.

The layoffs, which took effect last week, were a management decision and not the result of a business slowdown or a weak economy, said Carowinds spokesman Scott Anderson.

The 105-acre theme and water park now employs about 125 people full time, and between 1,700 and 2,200 seasonal workers.

The cuts marked one of the biggest full-time work force reductions in the past six or seven years at Carowinds, Anderson said.

The layoffs will help the company focus on front-line employees -- those who deal with guests.

Carowinds employees are considered North Carolina workers because the amusement park's business offices are in North Carolina."

Well, they need to get better orgization in what groups they put the staff into. They also need nicer staff.

What source did you read this from? I would like to see it.
The layoffs don't surprise me at all. I am in a business that was heavily "top loaded" and there have been continuous layoffs for 3 years. We have finally got trimmed back to where we need to be. If Carowinds had too many people in positions that did not interact with the guests/employees then I can see why. After all the surveys we took this year every single one of mine had something negative about the employees.
Hopefully this will get some things straight and back on track as far as the worker and guest relations.

Dollywood also laid off exactly 20 Full Time Workers this past September. First time that park has ever had to do such in it's history. I think it's mainly because this has been a down year for the industry as a whole.
