They have a recycle rotation thingy?? I didn't know that.

But SFNE must make more money than any other Six Flags, because they get alot of people each year.

PLUS, they have to give most of the money to the Town Of Agawam. That is how come Agawam's taxes are low. And there is no budget crisis, like Springfield.

but I have to say that it is rather entertaining to read some of your radical posts since you have become a member of this board.

THANK YOU!!! I take that as a compliment! I like to keep the boards so called "active" and "fun".

I don't hate you, no, not at all.. I just think you are a bit ignorant to anything outside your own little bubble. That's ok though, everyone has went through a stage like that and some people (even adults) still are.

Anyway I have some 2004 attendence figures here and the top 5 Six Flags parks in order of attendence

Six Flags Great Adventure - 2.8 million
Six Flags Magic Mountain - 2.7 million
Six Flags Great America - 2.3 million
With Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Over Georgia following close behind hovering around 2 million.

Also I should note that Carowinds and Dollywood were both over the 2 million mark which is more than SFNE. The only reason SFNE seems so crowded, is because it's tiny.

Anyways, you should try and visit some more parks before you hail SFNE as the best park ever. Such parks such as Knoebels, Holiday World, Islands of Adventure, Busch Gardens, hell even Cedar Point has a decent enough offering. Just go out and ride, you don't live in Massachusetts anymore, so being an SFNE homer is completely useless.

If you have a better name, please share it. Remeber... it has to have Six Flags in it ;)

Six Flags Carolina ... duh!

I would prefer Cedar Fair buy the park.... they have yet to own parks outside of the Midwest (besides Knotts of course) and do not have any near the south. Cedar Fair is good when it comes to adding new rides...

I'm sure no company no matter who bought it would change the name of the park, but simply add their name to the front, as Paramount did when they bought the park.

With the number of great rides at Cedar Fair parks, and the fact that a Carowinds season pass would get us into Cedar Point, I would hope that in the event Viacom sells us, it would be to Cedar Fair....

As for the food thing, Cephas, if you think of it Carowinds food isn't that great either.. its pretty much cookie cutter stuff, nothing original... plus I don't think that that much change would come from PC being bought out, maybe some improvements and some new rides

As for Six Flags, the only benefit from that would be given from them would be some more recycled rides... Plus why would Six Flags want the park so badly if they have SFOG?? It makes more sense for Cedar Fair if you think of it - all their parks are up north or out west... and they could enter the great southern market! lol

I would glady accept Cedar Fair as owners of Carowinds. To get rid of all the movie theming would be a great move for Carowinds. Plus Cedar Fair better maintains their older wooden coasters.

Country Kitchen / Outer Hanks / Board Wok / CBS Cafe / Cinn-A-Bon? These are nothing special?

Hamburgers, Fries and the like are "cookie cutter" but I think the others are way better than other parks I've attended. Excluding I.O.A. and Disney's more expensive and usually reservation required restaurants.

Are you sure about that? How about all the trims they have added. If that is their way of maintaining woodies I don't want it. Keep the themes but do more of it. I think the Movie Themes has helped Carowinds a lot. From the simple Top Gun decor to the elaborate Borg Sphere and pieces lying around makes the atmosphere better.

What kind of themeing, if any, would you suggest they have and why don't you like what they have?

The movie theme will be the downfall of Paramount Parks. Blue Streak doesn't have any trims on it. Thunder Road does. Mean Streak has to have them.

^what does Blue streak not having trim breaks have to do with a movie theme being the downfall of Carowinds??

Lol yeah, some of the IOA cuisine(sp?) blows away Carowinds' food.

anyway,

If the park is sold, Bring on Cedar Fair!

I certainly don't see how movie theming will be "Paramount's downfall" at all. I mean, Carowinds has had movie and TV inspired rides for 31 years! The second coaster the park put in was Scooby Doo, and the third was named after a movie and even had themed cars and other theming. That ride of course - Thunder Road. The kids area was themed after cartoons popular at the time. I'm not getting where any of the current theming trend is all that different than what the park has done from the beginning. Movie theming certainly doesn't seem to have hurt Disney or Universal, either.

Cedar Point is certainly no theming wonder. TTD isn't themed any more than Top Gun really, and that's about the only coaster there that IS themed. Ok, well, I forgot Disaster Transport. Compare that to Flight of Fear or Space Mountain, and I think that might explain WHY CF doesn't do much theming - they aren't very good at it.

Admittedly my sample size is small with Cedar Point being the only one of their parks I've visited - but from what I experienced there I want them NOWHERE near any of our woodies. Blue Streak was pretty good, but had bad trains. Mean Streak is just a pointless waste of wood. It makes no sense to build one that size, then slap trims on the FIRST DROP because it goes too fast and tears the track up. News flash - the height of the drop determines the speed, and woodies will require track maintenance. Don't want to deal with that, don't build one that tall!

I've heard lots of bad things from the fans of parks like Dorney and Knott's after the CF takeovers of those parks. I'd certainly prefer CF over Six Flags, but I honestly like Paramount and Busch a lot better than I do CF.

Because movies become outdated. Thunder Road has a NC connection. It is part of history too.

I think they go through the possible movie tie-ins pretty carefully before slapping the name of a movie on an attraction. Look how long they took to do something with a Star Trek attraction (and its been around forever. Although I did hear talk that the FOFs were going to be Deep Space Nine themed before deciding on the initital Outer Limit theme. Italian Job has a sequel in development (in addition to the original one that came out in 1969 AND had Benny Hill in it!)

Sometimes I wonder if they don't add a subtitle (ie: Tomb Raider: FireFall) so they can drop the movie part of the title in case the movie theme becomes outdated. FireFall would be a nice name in itself for TR:FF.

Really, Paramount hasn't gone overboad with the movie attractions like I"m sure they could. Tomb Raider, Italian Job, Happy Days Diner, Top Gun, Days of Thunder, the Nick Stuff (which is the largest offender), Crocodile Dundee for the water park, and of course, the Borg. I'm sure they could have done a lot worse.

^South as in Tennesee, N.C. and S.C., or south as in everything below Virginia? ;)

KenB made a good point, it would be better for Busch to buy the park than Cedar Fair. (as long as they don't tear down any coasters to make room for theming and more gift shops and what-not)

The last thing I heard is that Paramount is not selling off the parks.

They just split up the different Viacom entities to make them look more attractive to investors.

So I don't think Paramount is going to get rid of the parks at all.

They just put them in the group of "Economy class" investments.

I think Paramount has been making a good profit off the parks, so I don't see them getting rid of something that's making them money.
