General Carowinds discussion

Im sorry about my other post. (Namely, the spelling and grammar)
Ive been on the internet for so many years that I think I have forgotten how to type correctly... :(

How many of you have been on the Reptar Ride? Well, me and my friend decided we were going to try it just for fun before we got on Top Gun. So, we went in line, (it was short, of course). We stood there for about 5 minutes and decided to see what was going on at the station. It seems like someone, a kid, on the previous go-round had bled on a seat. So they had the first aid people, and some officer looking person come and clean it off. But they were still talking and looking at the spot...Everyone was getting impatient and wondering why it was taking so long!

Im still wondering how in the world did blood get on the front seat.....

People who were already seated on the ride were beginning to get impatient also so they starting getting off and leaving.
When they unlocked the safety bar things, they told everyone on the ride to get off. All the sudden, the employees started to lock the seats back and gave it the thumbs up and the ride proceeded without anyone seated on it. They just let it run through to air off the seat perhaps? I dont kno....

By then, people my age (14,15,16...) and the parents of the little ones said, "This ride is not worth standing here for 15 minutes" So we all just left. (Even the kids were getting impatient!)

Instead, me and my friend went to TOP GUN and rode it a few more times then came back to give reptar another try. Well, that was a DUMB idea! I knew it was a bad idea when I sat in the seats and my butt could hardly fit (and im really skinny). As the trains went up the lift hill im thinking "Mmm.. this is going to be OK.."

Well, we went down the first hill at TOP SPEED 0.5mph! My head was banging against the side! The whole time I was screaming...not because of the ride, but because of the bruises that felt like they were forming on my head! But the kids behind me were SCREAMING their brains out!

In conclusion, I think its a GREAT ride for the kiddies...not teens and adults over 4 ft tall ;) Maybe it was only me and hannah, but that ride was not for us!

I know what your probaly thinking "Its a KIDDIE rollercoster! What did you expect?!?" But Ive been on Scooby Doo and thats 21329% better than this one! And after going on Top Gun before this ride, it added to the "boringness"...

I was just curious if anyone else had a painful expirence on this ride like moi

Later! :D

Yea, I went on Reptar once just to try it and its really rough...especially for a family coaster. I get fewer bruises riding hurler. Its not built for people though over 5ft tall really, and you realize if you are too tall you actually arent allowed to ride, i know i'm not terribly tall and i felt about 4 times my legs were gonna get chopped off by the track or building below.

As for them running an empty train, the reason they do that is to get the computers re-synchronized with the train.

It's a Vekoma.....what did you expect? Vekoma = substandard quality. That company has a pretty lousy reputation among coaster enthusiasts. In fact, the adopted trade name for their suspended coasters are "hang & bangs"....

Hopefully Carowinds will see no more "Comas" anytime soon.

I think the Carowinds version is the rougher of the two that I rode. The other one being the original Reptar at PKI. It was a very fun ride. The Carowinds version...let's just say that I got my credit on it!

Don't insult Top Gun like that...

TG is a B&M (Bollinger and Mabillard) inverted. They're like the Mercedes Benz of the coaster world.

Reptar isn't bad, it's just that you have to hold your head to one side or the other.

Oh and you mentioned them running the train empty, most parks will do that to dry off the train after people barf or whatever on the train.

The problem I think with Reptar is like most Vekomas especially the Suspended Looping Coasters, theres space between the wheel and the track (and I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong) so this causes the shimmy and bumping sensation you get on Vekomas.

Yeah, for a Vekoma, it's oddly smooth.

Anyway,

Yeah, I rode Repdeath in 2003, luckily for me it was the year it opened so it was kind of smooth and not that bothersomley painful.

Reptar was never smooth, it has always been a head banger.

I don't ride Reptar because it gives me a headache. I suggested one time
that they modify the backs of the seats, generously padding them from the
headrests down to the seats. I think that would make it a better, more fun
ride for little kids and us big kids and a lot less painful.

I've never ridden it and never plan on it!

Lol I don't recommend it unless you have a child who wants to ride it

I'm going to go against the grain on this one. I like to ride it and haven't noticed that it was rough. Maybe its because I wedge myself in being that I am 6-2 and weigh 220 :D Being tall also helps with vortex so that I don't bang around on it as much either. I do understand the comment about feeling like you are going to lose your legs while riding it  but it hasn't happened yet.
