General Carowinds discussion

This thought just popped in my head and thought I'd get your opinions as well.

I've visited about 25 or so parks now and ridden 115 coasters (not counting a few fair rides I'm sure).

The more I visit other parks the more I really do appreciate Carowinds more.

For a few reasons.

PC tends to be one of the cleaner parks I've been to.

PC has average or above average customer service on most occasions.

PC actually has a good little collection of coasters when you think about it.

No we don't have any record breakers, but we could be living near a park that only has 2 coasters to ride. So I really am glad that I'm only 25 minutes away from a good park.

Growing up in Charlotte I've seen a lot of good/bad changes at the park and lately mostly good.

We tend to whine a lot about the bad, but as I said at the beginning I've seen a lot of parks in much worse shape than PC and I'm glad I don't live near those *cough*SFKK*cough* .

But I'm not going to name names here ;)

Anyway, what do you think. Have you come to appreciate our home park a lot more as you visit other parks?

I would say I have BGW.

Carowinds is indeed very beautiful. I have never seen a problem with trash or anything, there is always someone to pick up the trash left behind by lazy people.

I even appreciate the food more at Carowinds. You can get better food by far at Disney or Universal, but Outer Hanks really has some good fish and seafood baskets, its really surprising how good it is, even though the prices are on the high side.

I have never had a problem with Carowinds and it makes me think of how other parks seem to have rides down all the time but the 7 times ive been to the park this year i havent seen a ride down for more than 30 min. Carowinds is doing a great job.

Im just waiting on a floorless now :).

Actualy, yes. Now that i think about it, even IOA makes me appreciate Carowinds more.

Sure, IOA has phenomonal themeing and good coasters, but they have an extremley limited amount of rides. (Here's how limited it is: We got in the park around 10:00-ish, we could have finished all the rides not including the kiddy ones by 2:00 PM(nobody else wanted to ride jurrasic Park at the time), and every one but Flying Unicorn we did a repeat of!). And the park was clean, but it just wasn't Carowinds.

I always tell myself how I'm bored of Carowinds now because I've been so many times, but now that I think about it, it's one of the better parks out there.

I appreciate it more. The only other paramount park I have been to PKD and that place just felt weird. It felt that the paramount name just didnt fit the area. I like carowinds the most because of the actual layout. Every other park I have been to has a funky layout that have you all over the place but carowinds is a bi-circle and it doesnt get any simpler (is that a word) than that...

I just wished it had more trees.....

It depends what park we're talking about...

and ridden 115 coasters (not counting a few fair rides I'm sure).

Just barely beaten me, 107 here...I'll be at PGA and Kennywood this summer though...

Kings Island on Monday certainly made me appreciate Carowinds a LOT more. That park was an absolute disaster that day. If anyone's interested, you can follow our adventures this week here http://www.rideworld.com/plog/ If I keep writing TRs, that is...

^^ That's a bummer you had such a bad day.

The day after media day I didn't have really any problems at all.

They staggered the opening of a lot of rides until the afternoon saying that they wanted to wait until the kids got out of school.

Tomb Raider was one of them. It seems a lot shorter (ride time) this time for some reason.

Believe me Wes, compared to Six Flags St. Louis, SFKK might as well be Holiday World...

I am really thankful to have one of the best parks in the nation so close. Nearly all of our coasters are extremely rerideable (not counting the 2 Vekomas..) We have THE best flat ride ever in the Phantom Flyers. We have clean paths, friendly employees, and solid operations. Out of the 46 parks I've been to, Carowinds is still top 10, and bar-none the best of the Paramount Chain. It doesn't have the small park charm of Knoebels or Indiana Beach (or at least not anymore) but it's still a fantastic place to go for all ages.
