^^ Unfortunately, Raven is not running quite as well this year as in the past, and the fifth drop doesn't have the same punch it has in the past. But trust me, if you ever get to ride that thing in the dark when it is running at full speed, you will understand the hype.

I have to say that the two woodies during the day at Holiday World beat Ghostrider in the dark. I did not get a chance to ride Ghostrider back when it opened. I am told it is a shell of its former self.

The thing some of you are forgetting or just don't know is that HW has their own in house maintance guy who works on their coasters. If I remember correctly, he was from the now defunct CCI. He has done some outstanding work on their coasters. If HW didn't think they'd be able to keep TV up and running in their usual spectacular fashion, I don't think they'd be building it. This will probably be one of the best, if not the best, maintained steel structured coasters out there.

So, don't base the shoddy condition of one coaster (ie: Hurricane) and say that another one is going to be as bad when it won't.

Yea, what montumax said. Not all of them are in bad condition. Great White at Morey's Pier wasnt in half bad condition when i went to the park a few years ago, and it's a steel structure on the beach (if anything can destroy wood and steel, it's salt and sand). And like montumax said, they are not going to let this coaster fall into bad shape (like Son Of Beast quickly did), that's just not the kind of park they are.

Like Max said, don't base your decision about wood track, steel supports on one coaster. The Pavilion simply does not know how to maintain a wooden coaster, easy as that. It ran great the first 3 seasons. The same would apply to wood support coasters too. They can run just as bad if they aren't maintained properly.

Also, heres something to ponder. The classic Coney Island Cyclone, built in 1927, was built with steel supports on 75% of the ride (only the 2 turnarounds are wood support). It is also maintained extremely well.

Let me give you some great examples of where the wooden track and Steel supports mix well to retort your example.

Hades: One of the best new coasters I have been on this year. If this is an example of what the Gravity Group can do the I can not wait to ride the Voyage.

Great White: (Located at Morey's Piers) Was a great ride the last time I rode it (2002) when I took a detour to Myrtle Beach and ended up in New Jersey.

New Mexico Rattler: (Cliff's Amusement Park) I have not got around to take a spin on it, but I hear it is one heck of a ride.

Cornball Express: (Indiana Beach) Words can not even describe what this ride is like. It is airtime after airtime.

But it all boils down to what Max said about taking care of a woodie. Now I am not an expert but I would say B&C does not take care of the Hurricane as good as Holiday World does.

^Don't forget these excellent rides: Silver Comet at MFI, Villian at GL, and the Comet at Great Escape. Villain and Comet both being in my top 15, I can vouch for both being amazing rides. While I have yet to ride Silver Comet I have heard nothing but good things, and wouldn't be surprised to see it jump into my top woodies after I ride it next year.

Oh yes...I forgot about the Silver Comet. That is a great coaster and definitely one of the highlights of our NY trip a few years ago. Shame that the ride operations were so terrible and frustrating. I'd love to have gotten a lot more rides on it!

The Villain...It was fun but I think I was expecting too much from it. I think Batman Knight Flight (I forgot what its called now) was my favourite coaster in the park.
