General Carowinds discussion

Well, here's the deal. With the memory stick, I would try and get that back because I don't think Carowinds is allowed to confiscate items like that and not return them. Remember, they are security guards, not police officers. They merely detain people until the real cops get there.

With the ban thing, I think your buddy is screwed. All businesses have the right to refuse service, or entry in this case, to anybody for any reason. The way things like that are reversed is when the company gets bad publicity over it...a.k.a. the media. E-mail the "whistle blowers" or whatever it is. I bet some news person would eat that up - even if it is on the back page of the Rock Hill Herald. It's still bad publicity.

thats a great idea..

i think you and your friends should call Whisteblowers at Channel 9... they do this kind of thing all the time, and will get your memory stick back and prob. your bans lifted... if not, there will hopefully be a petition to sign (if we actually get that up), or you can always go for the lawsuit....

if carowinds is pursuant in keeping the ban, charlotteguy's right, they have that right. But if you get the channel 9 people on it (whom im sure will do something about it, the media is always looking for a chance to get at companies), carowinds might change their opinion... fast...

Actually.... In South Carolina, PC Security Officers are deputized- they are certified by SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) and can make an arrest. In North Carolina, they are considered security and can only detain.
In any case, if you want to pursue this, call (800) 888-4386 ext 2011 and request the Loss Prevention Manager or Operations VP (who will probably send you back to the LPM). He's a great guy who will be happy to resolve this matter.
Again, feel free to contact for questions/ contacts.

Let me clear this up, I am not banned. My ban was lifted after I explained the situation to the guard. I'll be at C3 with my friend Mandi so I'll probably see lots of you there. My friend just moved to DC, so the park ban isn't that much of an issue because he won't be attending Carowinds anymore really, and its unenforcable at the other parks. He just had to buy a new season pass, and it's all good on that aspect.

As for the memory stick, I'm sure it's long gone now. I highly doubt they keep confiscared items for this long. Even if they did, he's not gonna come down from DC to deal with something that only cost 100 bucks. Yes it was crappy of the park, yes they acted extremely innapropriately, but the complaints were filed and that's all we can do.

Just reading these past posts in this thread, please take thewinds advice and settle it through the park instead of contacting a news organization. I could see the media sensationalizing this and not in a good way either.

^ Rest assured I'm not going to do anything as durastic as take this to the news, as much fun as that would be. I know it would be damaging to the park, and that is the last thing I want. While I do think Paramount owes my friend about $180 (pass and memory stick) and a lift of the park ban, neither is likely to happen (he has tried through the proper channels).

The issue is closed, nothing else is going to be done by either of us. I am not pleased, but it's just not worth it. Had I been banned from the park, HELL YES I'd be fighting it through every available channel, but he feels differently and doesn't really care now that he lives in a different state.

Didn't mean to cause such a stir on the board lol... was just relaying a horrible experience I had. Just make sure you don't get assaulted...
