I'll start off by saying that I had a great time and a big thank you to Max, Robert, Scott, Natividad and Kathleen for pulling off another successfull event. It was nice to meet some of the CC forum members for the first time (coasterbruh, our aspiring new videographer & foreseer, our resident visionary, sorry we didn't get to chat more), as well as re-acquainting myself with members I have met in the past. Regardless of past (and future) quibbles, this is truely a great group of people and I admire and respect each and every one of you.

The crowd has really grown in the 4 years of this event. Remember the first CCC Max? Wasn't there only like 30 people? The official count of this years event was 129 people from 17 states (a record), the farthest being Muskegon, MI & San Antonio, TX. This has become one of the largest and best regional ACE events and a mainstay for years to come according to Scott Anderson.

The heat was downright oppressive! I commend those who endured the entire day at the park in the sweltering heat and humidity. I cheated and went home for a few hours but got back in time for the 7:45pm gathering in the Paramount Theater. I ran into quite a few others that left mid-day and returned later many simply saying it was just too hot for them.

I really enjoyed the DISC. CH (Canada) video Max. That was a great addition. The question/answer session by Scott Anderson was also a nice touch and we can officially announce that NO ONE knows what Carowinds will be getting for 2006. We do know it won't be hyper under the bridge. ;)

We were all dripping sweat long after the sun went down but the 10pm ERT's on Top Gun and the Phantom Phlyers seemed to take our mind off that minor discomfort. Lightning was flashing in the east, but snapping was on the menu in Nick Central.

Speaking of the Flyers.....
Jarvis, I can't wait to see your video! Was that a tri-pod in your pocket or were you just happy to be there? :D

There was a moment during ERT that I was almost afraid to be in the PP que line. Every car was snapping at full strength. What a sight! Nikki, the operator was fantastic. She really hyped us up and seemed to enjoy every second as much as we did.

Tog Gun seemed to be running faster than ever. I think the humidity played a role in that.

Anyway, I will end it here and hopefully someone else will chime in with their thoughts of the event. I look forward to seeing the CCC videos that will surely begin to surface in the coming days. Alan, Jarvis, Jonathan, are you listening? :)

What!?! I missed meeting you Swampfox? I didn't even see you or if I did I didn't recognize you. Oh well.

And where was KenB at this year?

My thoughts on C3 and maybe suggestions for next year... (and no I'm not going to stand up and say that Carowinds sucked last year like that guy did) I was floored by him. How tasteless!

#1 - Please could we move this to any time besides July, Aug, or September? The heat was just awful. It wasn't as bad as Mexico (and that's saying something about the heat down there a couple weeks ago!) but that was without a doubt the worst day as far as heat I've experienced at the park. The 2nd would be C3 last year!

#2 - As a suggestion, there were several disabled persons at the luncheon. Could there be an announcement next year to let those people go first and not have to stand in that long line? It would be very helpful to those folks I know.

#3 - Could Natividad try to smile a little or what??? (insert sarcasm here). lol I only met her last year at C3 but I love her already. She's so nice!

#4 - Could there be an alternate activity in the afternoons for those that don't really feel like running around the park for several hours hunting for *cough*blues*cough Clues or whatever? I know some people enjoy those type of things, I'm just not one of them. Espeically when it's 109 outside (that's what it was reading in Pineville when I cheated and went to the mall between 4-6). lol

I won't write anything else since I've already written my normal book over in the regular C3 thread.  :D

p.s. - Max go relax and watch Silence of the Lambs a few times lol (inside joke that has to do with his tshirt yesterday).

p.p.s. - Ever since I got back from Mexico 8/6 my right shoulder has been bothering me, or else I would have ridden Hurler more than twice in the a.m. It was simply FLYING yesterday! You could feel the upstop wheels catching the train from flying off the track it was flying over those hills like it hasn't done in AGES!

Kudos to the awesome ride folks at PC!

Also I enjoyed being with peter and lucas we had a great time and you can say we all are all ready for the next C3. :D

Sorry I missed meeting you too. Max pointed out several people to me. I guess you weren't around when he was doing that.
Speaking of next year.....
Scott mentioned to me at lunch that he is strongly considering moving the date up a week. That doesn't necessarily mean it will be cooler (like next weekends prediction) but at least we will be one week closer to Fall. ;)

Ditto to what most people have been saying. I had an awesome time, despite the heat. I probably drank a few gallons of liquid, but of course sweated it all out within minutes. :P Got a ridiculous amount of rides in during the morning ERT, and Hurler was running outstanding. The rACE was quite intense, and I had a great time doing it with Jay despite our somewhat poor performance and how exhausting it was. The Dora takeover was a bit of a bust, but that didn't stop Jay, Alan, Mike, Scott, myself, and some other guy (who was probably wondering why the heck that was on the schedule!) from taking a ride. Thanks to my winnings in the raffle, I rode the Skyflyer that evening with Jay and Ted. It was actually my first time riding the Carowinds Skyflyer, as I've always been too cheap to do it. Top Gun was running great that night (Bayarn informed me that they actually only replaced two wheels on one of the trains; sorry for the misinformation), but the real highlight of course was the flyers, which were downright terrifying. Once again, thanks to everyone who helped plan it and run it, and I would agree that C3 has become one of the best regional events out there.

Scanning over the various comments:

We talked about the heat and possibly moving it to a different weekend. Right after the park opens we'll try to get a date nailed down.

I swear I think C3 brings out the best in the coasters. Hurler was absolutely rocking yesterday. I hear how Top Gun always flies during the closing ERT sessions.

I'm gonna have to hit Dora sometime. I hate that the rACE ran over and missed some of the afternoon activites.

c14, they're looking at several different options for next year so the park will be getting something. Scarowinds is the next thing they've got to deal with and then next year's attraction, when it is decided upon. So, if they decide pretty soon, it might be a few weeks before its announced.

One thing I love is how Scott basically disproved all these people who claim to know what the park is getting ,etc. He admitted that they're still deciding. I swear we get somebody new on here at least every week who claims to know what's going on. He even admitted that he heard internally and externally the rumour of Frenziod leaving. But, its just that...a rumour. I've said it before and I'll say it again: take what you hear from some of these people with a grain of salt. Most people do it for attention and are talking from their aspirations.

I'm still waiting on that pecan pie Swampie. But, I'll settle something from Cinnabon.

I was told by one person that they love going to a park event and not have to deal with a lot of buttkissing and politics, etc. I think we've got a great group of people in this region and it shows.

I'm glad that everybody had a great time. We'll definitely do it again next year.

PS: If you can put out the word about the event in a TR or post on another forum, please do so. Let's let the world see what they're missing out on! Personally, I want to see this thing keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger...

You took enough photos! LOL. I thought about doing a Where's Waldo type thing with..."Where's Jarvis Taking Photos At Now?" I just laughed my butt off when we were walking to the picnic and you were over at that fence taking pics of Borg.

Memories of C3 ’05:

Well, I had an awesome time. My Daughter and her boyfriend spent a good part of the day in Waterworks, as many of you noticed her red face and nose. On the ride home I explained to them the whole rACE game and they said they were sorry that they did not participate and it sounded like a lot of fun. This, being the first event they ever attended, said it was a blast and we had a great group of friendly and crazy people. After all, I was not the only one there with a tie-died shirt on **cough** Alan.

All the rides were running great all day. As good as The Hurler was from the front I had to brave to the back seat at least once. WOW!! I braced myself for the drop and then just went with it and man it was a blast. From sucking down into the seat to coming out of the seat she was running great. Once out of our meeting we took on Vortex and Hurler in the front and both rides were just awesome. I know most don’t care for Vortex but it is still a unique and fun coaster.

I did not make it to any of the takeovers but I opted to go watch School of Rock and was even offered to do a survey on the show. I gave the show all high marks. The show was fantastic, energetic, and just right in terms of length. It was loud, the lights were great, and the little screen with Jack Black popping in from time to time with the band posing in freeze mode was a pretty good idea. Of course if you don’t like late 70’s or early 80’s rock you might not care for it but everyone of all ages in the audience was waving, clapping, cheering and just having a great time. This is by far the best show I have seen Paramount put on. And the finally was awesome with the stringers flying out at you. A great dramatic effect.

ERTs were fun to say the least. Going between Hurler, Ricochet, Cyclone in the morning to Top Gun, Taxi Jam (which I have never been able to ride) to the Flyers was a great mix of attractions. I only rode the Flyers once during that ERT as I snapped once in front of the queue and it let out a big pop and I heard everyone go woe. I was actually a tad afraid to keep riding it the way everyone was going nuts. I got to ride Top Gun in the front seat with Natividad. To those who have not had the experience riding with her she is a trip. She lets off this attack yell right when we start to drop and continues screaming the entire time. All I could do was laugh but that was a fun ride to say the least. She is a great lady that truly enjoys what she does.

The Amazing rACE was extremely confusing at first, and all I did was hand out envelopes with Jarvis but it was fun to watch those participating enter and exit the attractions. The only problem I had was trying to figure out who was with whom. Maybe next year they can wear matching bracelets or something. Next time I’ll do a better job of making sure the partners are side by side before I hand one out. I thought for sure Jonathan and Jay would have won but with any game anything can happen. Thunder Road is where it seemed the difference was made. Don’t know what happened there but everyone seemed all messed up after that.

The lunch was a normal lunch I’d expect, minus the hamburgers that weren’t there but the buns were. No complaints from me except man those beans and Mac & Cheese were scolding hot. I thought it was hot outside but those beans and Mac & Cheese proved me wrong. It was all good and there was plenty to go around. I did notice how fast the drinks were disappearing and was glad I like Sprite more than most of you. Who was that “person” that had comments to make on our park? I thought it was tasteless and a slap in the face. I know he said how impressed he was with the “changes” he saw but there was a much better way to say what he did.

It was nice meeting some of the members for the first time such as Swampfox and hopefully I can keep meeting a lot more. Everyone, except one that made a speech, was pleasant and seemed to truly enjoy their self and enjoy the group atmosphere. I know you all have known each other for a while but I think its great how everyone chats and hangs out with each other like they’ve known each other for ever.

One question I have for Swampfox, what did you mean that my name was being spread around? Is that a good thing? Lol

All in all I would like to thank everyone that put this together to all those that were there. Between Max, Robert, Scott, Natividad and Kathleen for organizing everything and giving us this opportunity to enjoy Carowinds in ways no others do, to all the members and guests that were there just made the event fun. Seeing how we got up at 4:30am and did not get home until 1:00am we never lost the fun factor.

Thanks again to everyone for a fantastic C3 and I look forward to many more.

I had to think for a minute what I actually said and I still can't remember what I was getting at. It must've been during that stampede going into the Paramount Theater. I'm sure it was a feeble attempt at being humorous......and I never got a chance to finish what I was saying.

:D

I thought it was kinda tasteless myself. I asked Max who it was but he couldn't remember either. I know he was at the first CCC in 2002 and had a lot to say then as well.

He was in the rACE i think... i don't know who he was though...

i was kind of shocked by the way it sounded.... esp. with Scott and the others who had organized it right behind them......
