General Carowinds discussion

Well, I just got back from Carowinds today (Sun. the 28th), and Carowinds was horribly understaffed. They were so understaffed that Thunder Road backwards was closed, Frenzoid and White Water Falls were closed, Kaleidoscope was closed, Scream Weaver was closed, and there was a ride in Nick Central that was closed, not to mention that most game employees were running 2 or more games each.

I don't mind this so much since I have a season pass and can come back another day. However, they had no signs outside the park even mentioning that some of the rides would be closed for the day. So say I buy 4 tickets to get into the park at 42.99 a piece, then I got inside and half the rides were closed, most coasters were only running one train when 2 were needed (there was a 2 hour wait for Borg and a 45 min. wait for Hurler), I think I would be pretty livid. And there certainly were some upset people. Is staffing really that much of a problem at the park?

It's a huge problem when school starts back. Half the employees have to leave and were stuck shorthanded untin more are hired.

I couldnt resist but if carowinds is falling apart why do you:

1) have a website, fan based website in honor of the park?

2) Visit the park on a regular and own a season pass?

3) Post on another, and quite sucessful, carownds fan site?

You are only making yourself look like a dummie, besides who still uses that word other then 4 graders?, and a hypocrite.

Rollernut, you obviously have never ran any type of business or have ever been in any type of management. Of course not, what am I saying, you sound like a 7 year old.

I have, on the other hand, have ran several business' and have managed a few. The one thing you have to go on is the history over a couple years past and a current trend you have now. It takes alot more than one person to operate a ride, operate an eatery, clean the park, etc, etc...

Let's say the park had 3000 guests and each spent 100.00 dollars. That is 300,00.00 grand. How much of a salary do you think the park pays in a day? How much utilities does it cost the park to operate on a daily basis? There are many more factors that go into this but we all know that all 3000 people won't spend 100.00 each and some of those are even pass holders so how much money do you think the park makes on days like these? I'm sure the park closes those attraction with low ride rates and keeps the more popular operating, even at the expense of one train running on coasters.

It's business, plain and simple. Now go get some cheese.

Could someone please get rid of this guy? I can put up with his comments for a lot of the things he has wrote here, but to come on a fan-based Carowinds web-site and trash the park, management, and employees like he hsa done is un called for. Then again, he's probally just doing it for the attention.

i would love to see rollernut take my position and go through the stress that all of us go through trying to still make guests happy and run the rides. It may not seem like it but Carowinds is really trying to get everything setup with all these Staffing problems. If anybody saw Top gun on C3 you saw that there was 4 people a driver and 3 people on the platform thats is Top Guns bare minimum for running the ride with 2 trains on a one train it can be a driver and 2 on the platform. My point i am trying to make that something like this Staffing takes time would you want somebody that will do his job or somebody that doesnt really care at all (Yes there are some no but they still do there job).

Yes, I own a season pass and yes I go alot but anyone can see the problems.


But it takes a true eye to see the improvements.

You would not know the truth if it jumped up and bite you in the *ss. You that hard up for some attention Thunderfan? Guess you miss the attention from not running the CPC or the CPO. I hear there is a Dragon Wagon that needs saving in Greenland. Maybe you should do us a favor and go there and save it.

Ok from the rides you listed, you should be grateful for what you GOT to ride!

Friday there were alot more of them down.

We get a 2 week extra long weekly operation and you guys complain. :rolleyes:

I had a blast at the park when I went on Thursday. I was glad that I had a chance to go to the park when school was in session and the crowds were virtually non-existant. It was great to see that first aid and maintenance people actually volunteered to do something in the park (running rides!) that they don't normally do to help the park out.

I don't know why people are complaining. They even gave out free tickets so you could come back to the park sometime this season on Thursday and Friday (maybe more days). I have nothing but praise for the park and the job they have done.

Im based at White Water Falls. But mainly been working at Scooby Haunted Mantion. Yes, Sunday WWF and Frenzoid was closed, but both did open up around 3 or so. But they were close that morning do to staffing issues.
