I don't know about y'all but I definitely hope Carowinds will be able to compete with SFOG's new hypercoaster. I know we aren't likely getting a new thrill coaster, however a major new thrill ride is in order here! Don't fail me now Carowinds... By the way, I wish Carowinds would install a Starbucks like King's Dominion did this year. Caramel Frappucinos for everyone!! Only 10 bucks for a grande size....

P.S. Since SFOG plans to make their announcement on Sept. 1 will this push back Carowinds 2006 attraction press release???

i dont think it will push back the announcement for Carowinds. Will just hav to wait and see if Carowinds will ever get a Hyper Coaster.

My 3¢

Carowinds will not answer the call to SFoG's new B&M hyper coaster. Someone brought up a similar question to Scott Anderson during last weekends CCC. Scott reminded the group that we do not compete with SFoG simply because they are not in our demographic area of concern.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to see Carowinds go head to head with SFoG. Since this will be the only first hyper coaster south of Washington DC it will surely get a lot of attention and will most likely increase their attendance.

I for one am looking forward to having a new coaster worthy of a short drive from Charlotte. Maybe just maybe, Carowinds will take note and consider something similar for us but don't count on it.

I really doubt the Sept. 1 announcement from SF will hinge on whether Carowinds makes their announcement. In fact, the park may not even know what they are getting by Sept. 1 according to what Scott said last Saturday.

Besides, if Carowinds were getting something substantial (in the way of a coaster) someone would have noticed markings, or land clearing by now. Usually parks have to start prepping no later than August for anything like a large coaster to be ready by March opening.

My guess is water park expansion. Like someone mentioned a while back, the fact that the water park closes earlier than the rest of the park in 2005, and will open later in 2006 than the amusement park, gives them more time to do construction. That's just my guess though.

I wonder if we will ever get a hyper? I kind of doubt it, but I really want one so bad.

It seems that if Paramount was going to start building them they would have done one by now at PKD or PKI.

At least we know that Scott would get us one if it was up to him

it could have black supports, be a few feet taller, and have more overbanks... it'd also be the first floorless hyper !!!!!

they'd also get to mount a huge gorilla on the top of it!!!!!!!

King kong is being remade this year, so it would make sense... i really hope we'll get a hyper...

but! I'll definitely be making my trip to SFOG, check out the high speed video, the POV looks AWESOME!!!!!!

Dosen't the park offer the POV so people can formulate ideas of what the ride experience will be like? Otherwise, they'd just give off-ride animation.

I think this will be another 'forceless' B&M, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

I was waiting on that exact comment Cephas. I new someone besides me was thinking, down the hill fast, over the crest slow. But, I also know it's a simulated view and I plan on geting front and back seat rides to check out the air.

The name must affect the ride in some way. A name is just a name.
