General Carowinds discussion

I wouldn't say cheaper, Water Works was 13 million and i think BB would be around the same if not more since they will bring in alot of new slides, A heated lagoon and have to basically re-theme everything.

I do hope we get the waterpark retheming and expansion. However we need to remember that PKI is the flagship park of Paramount Parks and they will Not spend 13 million for the waterpark. Top Gun, PC's Signature Coaster was only 10.5 million. So it seems highly unlikely they will spend that kind of money on the waterpark. In other words, we may get the waterpark revamping but it will not be to the degree PKI received. (Yeah, I know I'm a bummer...)

PKI might be the so called flagship park, but it is far from the best operated park in the chain. I have a feeling that afew others who went there in June have the same feeling as I do about just how much PKI is lacking in the operations area.

Cheaper than a Coaster anyhow.

But I could be wrong.................... Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

I'm leaning towards water park expansion too. Certainly we would have seen some tell tell signs if a major coaster was in the works. A good flat ride is a possibility also.

Anticipation........

hopefully they don't cheap us out the way they did to PGA (lose their 17 million stealth for one waterslide, a lazy river, and a wave pool)...

i think if they BB, they'll give us something similar to PKI's

is pki REALLY the flagship?? i don't know, i'd say its a hard one between them and PKD... and i don't see carowinds being a faraway candidate either, once some revamps are in place, and a hyper - it could be all OURS.....

I would agree, PKI is nowhere near the best operated park in my experience.

If we did get BB it would be on the lever of say PKI. If they spent 13 Million on the last waterpark renovation i could see Carowinds spending the same on BB.

Not sure how much PKI has but another 13 million would be a hell of a big waterpark. Alot more than expanding it into the Frenzoid & WWF area.

Although I'd rather not do the water park thing, I would understand if they did.

Just look at how popular Water Works is! That place is constantly packed!

Maybe if they do something cheap like that next year then they can afford our hyper for the 35th Anniversary ;)

Thats why the park needs to do the waterpark now. This year the aterpark has been way over crowded and i think that shows Carowinds what they need to do right there, Expand it, add about 5-7 new slides and a few extra places to eat.

Boomerang Bay-13 million.

Intamin rocket-13 million.

Which one will Paramount chose?

Which one will draw more people to the park? B)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I am still putting my money on a flat. And not just any flat, a Huss giant frisbee. I have 5 bucks on it - any takers? :D I say we start a Carowinds Connection pool.

The Intamin would draw more people in but knowing Paramount they would go with BB.

I lead you to a news article printed in July that will pretty much smash your theory to pieces. Link

People do not want big, new, shiny rollercoasters. People want water. I wish some people on this site would stop thinking like enthusiasts even some of the time. You may want an Intamin Rocket (for what reason I'll never know, probably the same reason people like Floorlesses..) But first you're going to need some waterpark stuff to pay for that coaster.

JamminJ I agree with ya. Waterparks are a huge draw that brings in more families each year which turns into extra cash.

As much as I want the biggest, baddest, coaster in the world I really don't see Carowinds putting one in. The parcentage of increased guests for a new waterpark dwarfs the percentage for a new coaster.

I definantly see Carowinds going the way of adding a new flat and doing something with all that dead space in County Fair. They have already removed and moved some things from that section, repainted the arches ( without putting the name back last I saw), They still can't get 2 movies in FX Theater for an entire season and have way too mane games in the middle that hide Thunder Road, FX Theater and the arcade. Heck, they still have the maze up from last years Scarowinds. There are just alot of "dead-ends" in that section.

I really see the County Fair being 100% re-build for 2006. Last year it was a topic at C3 and altho the surveys this year were about water rides I don't see that happening untill 2007. The seem to do things the year after the survey is out.

Hmm, a Top Spin where Frenzoid was, move the Kaleidoscope to where Flight School was, line up the games around the flat spin wall of Top Gun, put in a Frisbee smack dab in the middle. :P
