Go anywhere in the country, nascar will be there.  Nascar is the most popular spectator 'sport' in America, based on attendance.  It beats out football, basketball, and baseball.  It's actually slightly embarrasing that we have so many rednecks in this country...

I'm sure more people went to nascar events than fairs last year.

Wow...I'm sticking up for Rollernut...

^May I ask why?

Again, no go on nascar theme...you see what happen to DOT right....

What happened to DOT happened because it was a crappy movie. The nascar theme itself is a great idea.

Paramount parks are going the "hollywood" theme and it would be almost impossible to make a nascar theme area and have the attractions not seem similar. See how action zone is one main theme but totally different rides and how nick central has one main theme but a collection of subjects. Do you get what im saying? Nascar is fun and all but not strong enough to become a theme section, it will end up like waynes world...

Waynes World was some movie back in the 80's.

Nascar/racing in general, is a timeless american/redneck pastime.

If the section is a mix of nascar/drag racing/off road racing/whatever else, it will never grow old.

i see a race zone a perfect addition to the park.

look at all the race movies, plus there's Italian Job: Stunt Track [kind of cars-racing-idk..], the Amazing Race, and all the intamin rocket-themed-to-racing rides. There's also history in NC.... and tons of Hollywood Movies!

I agree with Cephas, racing is universal, and it doesn't have to stick to nascar. There's F1, and soap-box type derby's too, and leaving it as a generic race zone would appeal to a large section of the GP, who are into those things.

but paramount isnt into adding "regional" areas anymore basically adding things that everyone can generally relate to young old, all nations, all backgrounds. If they cant add it to all the parks the chances of it being exclusive to one park are slim to none. It would be funny to see a nascar theme area in canada's wonderland...

The park tried something similar to that with zoom zone...

Nothing like watching cars go around in a circle. If that is your thing that is.

Yeah, Nascar is totally outta place in Toronto...

<a href='http://www.nascarspeedpark.com/toronto.html' target='_blank'>http://www.nascarspeedpark.com/toronto.html</a>

<a href='http://www.nascar.com/2004/news/business/06/14/nascar_canada/' target='_blank'>http://www.nascar.com/2004/news/business/0.../nascar_canada/</a>

Seriously though, they'd do a more generic 'racing zone' at PCW. At Carowinds' 'racing zone' they'd just have a Nascar focus.

but a generic racing theme works in any park. You see it anywhere from Ohio (TTD) to California [xcelerator], to even here before (zoom zone)..., las vegas (speed), even Toronto! lol

it isn't regional
it won't be nascar (too many license fees)

plus we'll get the 13 million dollar Intamin rocket!

still seems like a great fit for carowinds...

Those are isolated rides not whole lands. Now I never said a nascar themed ride wouldnt work but a whole land wouldnt, in my honest opinion. great fit for carowinds but not paramount's carowinds...

Kinda late to the thread but...

I don't believe you'll ever see a full NASCAR area at a Paramount Park. Why? They don't own the rights, and would have to pay huge licensing fees. Not only that, but there is already a company that has the liscensing to do NASCAR attractions, B&C out of Myrtle.

NASCAR Cafe', as far as I can tell, is like a franchise. You could buy the franchise and build one, much like B&C has done in adding one to Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach, and other places. I think there are currently 4 or 5 Cafes, and at least 2 of them are owned by B&C. Another one has a coaster, but it doesn't really have a NASCAR theme, hence the name Speed: The Ride. Trust me, I saw no NASCAR Specific Themeing at Speed.

Then there is the NASCAR Speedpark. B&C ownes all of these, and they offer rides and some offer small coasters. IIRC, they're teaming up with Premier to build NASCAR themed coasters in certain places. Now, think about it, The Sahara has a NASCAR Cafe section. There is a coaster there, by Premier, but it isn't really NASCAR themed. Racing themed? Yep. Stock Car themed? You betcha. But there is no mention of NASCAR in the station, and no 'NASCAR' anything on the coaster trains or ride.

So, B&C probably realized that that was a good idea, and since they have the NASCAR liscense for the Speed Parks, they think 'Hmmm...Maybe we should have launched coasters like Speed, but with the actual NASCAR themeing'.

Makes sense to me. Which brings me to my point. Why would B&C, who obviously holds the liscence to themed NASCAR attractions outside of an acutal NASCAR Cafe allow PCar to have a NASCAR themed section? Esp. since there is a NASCAR Speedpark so close to Carowinds, and another just 4 or less hours south?

I'm sure, if they really wanted to, PCar could buy a NASCAR Cafe Franchise and build the Cafe there, though that doesn't seem very Parmount to me. However, I highly doubt that B&C would allow NASCAR themed attractions at PCar, when they have the resources and liscences to do so themselves outside of PCar, and make the money themselves.

Edit: I'm also not saying that a Stock Car themed attraction wouldn't work at a Paramount Park, but they aren't going to get that NASCAR liscence. Oh, wait, whats that you say? Oh, they have a Stock Car themed attraction? Oh, they've had one for years? Riiiiight. Days of Thunder. A Stock Car themed attraction. Something tells me that if they were going to do much more with that theme, they'd have done it, instead of just bringing Days of Thunder back every few years.

RollerNut wrote: Zoom Zone didn't focus anything except going fast. Zoom Zone was removed for the Nick Expansion, dumbass. Carowinds wanted to be able to claim the World's Largest Nick area, so they took over all of the kiddy area. Coasterbruh, some of the stuff you say sounds like you are talking out of your *******.

"RollerNut - the new birth control." What does that mean?

Actually the focus of zoom zone was cars and planes but you wouldnt have noticed that from all the bashing you do and trash can picture taking.

I don't like you very much. (condensed and summarized by Jonathan)
