General Carowinds discussion

Maybe they're going to sell it rather than just tear it up. Hmmm - maybe it's our donation to the Paramount Ride Rotation Program.

I do wish they had made an announcement that it was closing - I've ridden it a few times this year but would've definitely gone for a "last rides on Frenzoid" day. I lucked out and got to ride the Sternwheeler on it's rumored last day.

Frenzoid was indeed the most popular ride in the park the first year or two it was open, although I'm guessing the unfriendly restraints certainly didn't help it's longevity any. Still, it outlasted quite a few flat rides at Carowinds - hopefully we get something good in it's place.

New rides are always the most popular ride in there first year. Fremzoid got luckly and Carowinds added kiddy rides in 1987.

I remeber going to Carowinds with my parents in the last 80's and mid 90's and the lines were always very long for Frenzoid.

If the putt putt area goes and the old boarded over volleyball area, then you have a rather large space to expand the water park when you factor in the frenzoid area as well. WWF being a water ride easily can sit along the border much like Super Saturator. I don't see a water park expansion as out of the question. I could even see a new flat for county fair depending on if the water area in front of frenzoid was filled in or not.

Basically, anything can happen right now but there is potentially a lot of land in that area of the park if used right.

Maybe we will get lucky and they will move the frenzoid to carolina board walk!and theme 2 something to fit the area! they could put it in the spot between borg and goldrusher! :D :(

Intresting idea. I'll bet ridership goes up. As long as they put new restraints on it.

Not likely tough

i have a feeling the lake by frenzoid WILL be filled in, for whatever they decide to do for an expansion or w/e. I really wish carowinds would get some landscaping in the park rather than filling in every bit they already had over the years.

It would be nice if they kept the pond but if not oh well.

I'd rather have two flats and no pond, than one flat and a pond.

No, Fenzoid was very popular for several seasons. It was even more well known than the roller coasters for some time...

Then what killed it because the name was changed in 1993. Frenzoid was originally known as the Sea Dragon. Which is why the pond is there.

Frenzoid has always been Frenzoid. I don't know where you pulled that from...

If his history is that inaccurate, I'd hate to think of his rumors....

It was not always known as the Frenzoid. I remember seeing a different name on the sign.
