Yes, I think you are, considering most people here aren't old enough to drink.

Guys... you all realize that Carowinds doesn't collect money and "save up" for attractions like a private park might. Corporate (viacom or whoever controls us now) has a huge budget for yearly additions, and then divides out what each park should get. There is no Carowinds "hyper coaster" fund that people are shoving extra change in to everyday. Sorry to burst the bubble, but if we get a hyper coaster, it isn't going to be because they "saved up" after our sucky Boomerang Bay addition.

Hey, I bet PKD, PKI, PGA, and PCW will all have their kids areas rethemed to Nick Central by 2012! And that was about as hard to make as any of Nut-stradamus' "predictions". It's probable, it makes sense, and it has a decent likelihood of happening - but I certainly have no actual INFORMATION about this actually happening. Every park will likely have a Boomerang Bay at some point, just like they all have a Drop Zone. Most may get an Italian Job and / or Tomb Raider ride of some sort, just like most have Top Guns, Reptars, Vortexes, Scooby Doo dark rides and racing woodies. None of this is rocket science.

Carowinds has plenty of room to add rides without removing anything due to space. They might remove things due to low ridership (read: Frenzoid) when they think they have something that can better use the space, but they don't need to just to make room.

Carowinds also isn't in dire financial shape due to selling too many cheap season passes. They're pricing them at a level to try to get the attendance they want. More people through the gates means more people to sell stuff to. I'm hoping Nut-stradamus takes an econ course or two to try to get SOME basic knowledge of how businesses operate, as he seems totally obvlious to the concept as of now.

I'll somewhat go along with the "major" ride theory for 2007. That timing makes sense with BORG's newness wearing off by then. The park saw how a major thrill ride can spike attendance upward, so will want to try to repeat that again before too long - although they certainly want milk BORG for all it's worth. The park also has kept spending down somewhat with getting the used Stealth, some used rides for Nick Central, and not a heckuva lot for the Boomerang Bay used or otherwise. If they've been saving some of this money towards something big......

Ok, I'm not expecting Millennium Force or Kingda Ka - nor do I want either of those, either. An Italian Job is a distinct possibility, as is a major flat ride or two. Something larger like a hyper, floorless, or larger launch coaster is probably less likely, but I don't think they're out of the question either. The thing that would surprise me most would be a woodie since the park already has 3.

So I'll go on record predicting a new coaster in 2007 or 2008, possibly a "major" ride although nothing world-record-breaking - and that they won't have to remove another coaster to do it.

P.S. Almost forgot the thread topic, Boomerang Bay. Well, yeah, it's much less than I was hoping for but should at least look better and have more shade. I'm not over there that much anyway so it's no big deal, although I would've probably gone more if they had added some slides.

^ Agreed...

oh and about the funds, i'm sure there's some kind of limit/spending amount viacom gives to each park, and so the park may be waiting to bring in a lot of money for a later date, hence the 'saving' of the money people have been talking about...

Yes, I think we will get a major coaster in the next few years. If not, i'm not going to be shocked, so long as we still get something pretty good each year, even if it is one flat ride or a revamp...

I do think, however, that carowinds sort of follows kind of an attendance pattern that gets boosted with a new ride, and i think that that will come in the next two years... Borg is losing its novelty in the park, and thus i think in the next two years it'll be time for the park to add a big ride...

plus we have to look at the fact that SFOG is adding a hyper (and to the fact that this does put some pressure on carowinds, even if overall attendance isn't pushed way down....

oh and i never said the hyper would be huge.. i'm just praying for an intamin or B&M, 220 or so feet tall, and for it to be UNIQUE - something carowinds has trouble getting nowadays.... [don't think we'll be going for a monster giga/strata or anything...]

No, the park itself doesn't have a "hyper fund" they're saving their spare change in from getting used rides or anything like that. However, if between the park and corporate they can cut costs for the Nick Central and Boomerang Bay expansions with used rides, etc. corporate may be more likely to approve more money in 2007 (or whenever) than they would've if they spent more in the previous years. Or not, corporations are fickle and aren't the most logical things in the world. So while saving money now doesn't directly go towards future projects, it certainly doesn't hurt their chances of getting the money either.

^ yeah that's essentially what i meant....

if carowinds spends less money now, viacom = more likely to give them more money later... 2007/2008 later.... hopefully 2007

At least it is something. Better than nothing. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Ok, first off:
More people = More items sold, NOT ALWAYS true! People don't have the money to buy somemore after they get in the park. Plus more season pass holders=less sales b/c they will be smart enough to go outside the park to eat, and they already have most of the other junk the park sells. You see sales wear off over time. Simple fact:Paramount Parks Marketing is the ones setting the SP and GA prices not Carowinds. Paramount Parks and Viacom controls everything that has to do with money.

My wonder is what the GP's actions toward BB will be.

I hope you are not planning to go into the business world, because your way of thinking would drive a company into the ground in record time.

How much ya'll want to bet we get to see most of the construction of Boomerang Bay's new attractions, not that there is any.

I have got feeling that Carowinds is losing money because season pass sales are going up while attendance is too. In other words, I encourage people to resist the cheap season pass prices, and the benifits because it looks like they are killing Carowinds. :(

Ladies and gentlemen...give it up for RollerNut. He's here all week folks!

Smart financial decisions by Paramount is specifically why we aren't in the same terrible shape that Six Flags Inc. is in.

Sure, I am not the least excited about BB, but I look forward to seeing the finished product. Paramount has been doing exceptional work on Carowinds lately and I am sure the waterpark makeover will be no exception.

If memory serves me right, the last major waterpark additions occured in 2001.

We got Ricochet in 2002, Runaway Reptar in 2003 and Borg in 2004.

While I'd like to have seen something major among the additions next year, I'm glad to see the waterpark getting a facelift. The few times that I've been over there, its just seemed so blase. We'll probably see some additions to it later.

I'm sure everything was done the way it was done for a purpose.
