HI I was out at the old Heritage USA site today 5/24/05 and saw the construction/destruction of the place.. First I saw that the bulldozers and Track hoes have invaded the water park. The back section was almost all torn down.. They are moving towrds the front.. I would quess in 3 weeks or less it will be flat..The Barn has had most of its roof torn off and the inside of the barn has been cleaned out.. Looks like they are goin to rebuild that section.. I forgot my Camera or I would have taken pics..

Did they implode that hotel? I couldn't see it from the Top Gun hill.
Then again I was on the second row and couldn't see very well but
for some reason I always look for it. Is it gone?

The destruction of that place is truly the end of an era.

I'm sure that whenever they implode the old Tower that it will be on the local news.

Like our "beloved" old convention center downtown that will be imploded some time before 2060. lol

They keep pushing the date back. I work in the building next to it, and I'm ready to see that eye sore go!

^WOW! What a sad photo. I was fortunate enough to go there once back in it's hey day. It was the best waterpark in the Carolinas at that time. Very sad to see it being bull-dozed.

Never had the chance to go, but it looked like it was great. That is a sad pic. I hate to see that they couldnt get it back up and running.

A couple years back I did some investigating on that property. At the time, it had changed owners several times but was finally picked up by a company called The Malaysian Group or something like that. The area was 25 acres and included the waterpark, mall, condo tower, arcade/go-kart track, and cabins/time shares. They were asking for some $13 million for it, which is precisely why no one had bought it yet. The amount of money to demolish all of that old crap is astronomical. Again, at the time the plan was Regent Park (the surrounding housing development) was going to buy the land in phases and parcel it out to developers for - you guessed it - more homes.

A truly sad sight but so is seeing Coasterbruh here. I like the way the slides were fitted into the hillside. Kindaof like that one slide at Wet N Wild. Carowinds should a lesson from those waterparks and not make Boomerang Bay so flat.

wanna see another sad <a href='http://carowindszone.xtremecoasters.com/' target='_blank'>"SITE"...</a>

And why should carowinds "a lesson" from those parks, those torn down parks...if anything it should look at what NOT to do from a business stand point and continue doing what they have been doing for the past several years, yeah that stuff that makes you whine about how horrible PARAwinds is but yet still frequent the park...

I ain't complaining coasterdummy. I am saying that they should add trees, and built new slides thru the trees dummy.

im not gonna entertain you anymore because obviously you dont even know what your saying yourself...how can you get trees outta being flat..remember you just said it shouldnt be flat now your saying they should add trees (like thats gonna help flatness). But hey...rollernut has the masterplan that will "save" carowinds right...
