General Carowinds discussion

I was just wanting to get everyone's predictions about how Winterfest will do.

I personally feel things might go a little slow for the first year, but I'm sure that if Paramount will keep it up the event will grow more popular over time by word of mouth, like Scarowinds.

I'm glad to see that Winterfest is being heavily promoted in order to increase awareness.

Considering how well they do on Scarowinds, the fact that McAdenville is their only competition and the fact that Charlotte has grown so much since the last time they did this, I would say yes.

That goes for me too. Don't forget that there are people who remember Winterfest from the 80s, 90s, and the Skytower Christmas that Carowinds stopped doing in 2002.

I found out tonight just how succesful it will be.

Winterfest is like Scarowinds. What you get out of it will depend on your attitude going into it.

I'll talk more on it later but I personally feel no one should miss out on this event.

I'm guessing that it will be a hit. Most of the holiday events at amusement parks are hits, and x-mas is the biggest holiday for most people.

I think it will be a hit. It's going to take a while to catch on but once it does it's going to be great.

I beleive the actuall name of the holiday is Christmas.

Do you not understand abbreviations? Is there a reason that you're trying to start flames out of a simple abbreviaton?

Mainly because xmas is an insult to Christ, the reason for the season. Gotta agree on this issue, the "x" is not an acceptable abbreviation for many.

Didn't realize that. Sorry if I insulted anyone.

Actually if ya'll want to get technical X-Mas goes back to when the greeks or romans or somebody in that era abreviated Christmas with X-Mas. X is the first letter in the name of Christ in the original language.

I know many people say X-Mas so they don't have to say Christmas, but it actually has it's roots in the church, not the culture of the day.
