Seek and ye shall find..

PKD came in at 27
SFOG came in at 32.

It'll be interesting to see how PKD's IJST and Goliath affects attendance at these two parks this year.

PGA stayed at 31 but had an increase of 7% in attendance, which is accredited to the BB expansion....Hmmm...

I still find it crazy that PC is beating SFOG for attendance 2 years in a row.

With the population of Atlanta you'd think they'd be smoking us.

Just look at the parks... Carowinds is much cleaner, the food is a little cheaper, the guests are not as rude, and the theme is more family oriented than Six Flags. Not to mention the water park and special events throughout the year at Carowinds.

I'd take Carowinds over most any Six Flags anyday. Now ride per ride Six Flags may have the upper hand... but you are mainly attracting singles and couples in that catergory, not families of three to six people.

Also, Atlanta has Stone Mountain, a seperate water park, Wild Adventure Park, and a Kiddie park by Six Flags, and several other near by destinations to choose from.

Six Flags Over Georgia's attendance has been slipping for several years. Around 1990 the season total was in usually in excess of 2.5 million.

Anyway, I still don't see any big difference in Carowinds and Six Flags - both parks are on the same level IMO. I've never had any run ins with "gangs" at SFOG, nor had any major problems with their staff, etc.

And I still think both parks draw a similar group of people, even if Carowinds bills itself as a family park. Both are used as babysitters for the local teenager population.

Well, that is a given for any amusement park.

I think SFOG's attendance will soar in 2006. Just guessing here but i'd say up 10%.

Yeah and then it will drop off the following year.

That was one issue the new guy from ESPN said about them building coasters, that it didn't sustain attendance growth.

The Jan. 11th, '05 Charlotte Business Journal has an <a href='http://charlotte.bizjournals.com/charlotte/stories/2006/01/09/daily25.html?jst=b_ln_hl' target='_blank'>article</a>
on Carowinds attendance for 2005. Although Paramount refuses to release actual numbers to the media, Amusement Business somehow gets the number in print as 2.13 million between March & Jan.

And they made it into the Top 50 most attended parks in the world. Sweet!

I'm sure that Winterfest helped out on the attendance.

Yay for Carowinds, I bet the 10 free tickets had a lot to due with it too.
