It could also mean that they won't build a $20MM coaster, but they might build a $5MM-$10MM coaster.

I highly doubt they will stop building coasters. But until they get some of this debtload gone, I doubt there will be many new ones at the parks.

im just surprised at the huge cost of building the hyper... granted, they had a lot of work to do clearing the front area of the park.. but still, a good coaster costs more and more and more... i mean i guess i knew it would cost that much, but i had one of those realization periods where you're like, god, that's so much money...

anyways im happy with what shapiro is doing with SF.. particularly SFMM.. parks that need a spruce up in the hospitality and family departments, and not another 25 million dollar coaster...

and an image update.... completed helix!1

It cost $20MM not 25.

But that probably includes all the landscaping costs and everything, but I'm just guessing.

Could not really help but throw this out to you folks. Media Day for this coaster is March 30th and like always ACE is invited to it, but you will only be able to attend it only if you have pre-registered for Spring Fling (ACE Event). I got this info from an e-mail last night that I got in my e-mail box. Seems like someone is trying to pad the attendance numbers to For Spring Fling.

Thought I would include the e-mail:

Six Flags Over Georgia has agreed that early registrants for the ACE Southeast Region's Spring Fling event will be guaranteed an invitation for the Media Preview of Goliath, a giant among roller coasters. This exclusive preview is currently scheduled for Thursday, March 30.

As of today there is only one way to guarantee you'll be invited - and that's by sending in your registration for ACE Southeast's Spring Fling (details below). So get out your registration form, write out a check, and drop it in the mail.

The giant is waiting...will you be ready?

just from a viewing standpoint, with enough speed cresting the hill into the helix, that looks like it could pull a lot of negative g's... which is def. a good thing..

the banking looks incredible.. i hope i can get down to ride this beast this summer
