South Gate will be CLOSED Monday thru Friday with the exception of holidays. Season Passers go will be directed to Lot A.

Now that is stupid, why even have a second gate if they aren't going to use it most of the time?

There's simply no need for it on weekdays when the crowds are light. I'm surprised they still have it at all, actually. Carowinds is the only POP park I can think of off the top of my head (other than Cedar Point) that still has multiple entrances.

^ Doesn't SFoG have another entrance? I know they use to but I haven't been there since 2001.

I say BRING BACK THE TRAMS!

I disagree with these changes. Both gates should always be open, IMO. The park can get quite busy on weekdays during the summer requiring a nice hike to the entrance with only one gate. I can usually find a parking space that requires a lot less walking at the south gate, even on Sundays.

With the south gate closed M-F, let's hope that they utilize extra help for the north gate to keep the lines moving. I have been kinda peeved at the fact they had only one metal detector line and 3 ticket takers on certain busy days. It took me 30 minutes to get in the park one weekday last year.

My wish list still includes a separate entrance for the water park. Hopefully some well thought out changes are in store for the future.

Six Flags Over Georgia shut down their back entrance around 2001 or 2002. Deja Vu is located where it used to be.

I hate that South Gate being closed during the week! Even so, it has taken us up to 20 minutes to get through during the week, especially with the security check. You gotta love that close parking for all of us Plats at South Entrance and I've got FIVE children so I don't relish negotiating the Main Entrance. Bottom line, this is probably a cost saving measure ~ maybe they'll reconsider once the season heats up.

This is my very first post. However, I've been reading and enjoying your many posts for the past 8 months. I just haven't felt "experienced" enough to converse with the rest of you guys. Maybe now. I'm a relative newcomer to the big rides - I had to wait for some of my children to begin reaching that all important 54" height. My wife won't ride. But two children have now reached the height and another should reach by Fall. I've told them I intend to take them on some of the great coasters around our country, Lord willing, over the next few years!

welcome to the boards!

on tuesday's in the summer, it makes perfect sense

i actually do not mind it very much at all. although parking might be a little more of a walk, the platinum parking they've set up at the north gate is not that much further then the one at south and most of us have platinum anyways

the north gate metal detectors are much more efficient then the south gate metal detectors.. but i agree, on certain fridays it could be a nightmare. generally speaking, M-Th during the week will have virtually no problem. It really cuts down on employee and operating costs to have that second gate closed. And who's complaining? it cuts down Top Gun's line too.... at least that's what i've experienced when the south gate is closed

Welcome CoasterDad. Nice to have some new members to trade thoughts with. I am sure you have gotten a good feel for the members after reading for 8 months. Hope to hear more from you!

There is no doubt that Montu is a great invert ~ we rode it 10 times inclusive of most positions over a 2-day period about three weeks ago. Top Gun is just a slightly condensed but very intense version of the same. I will say this, NO ONE runs a coaster like Carowindsman and his team compared with the teams running the great coasters at BGT. When you ride these other big coasters, you come to appreciate how efficient our own Top Gun runs, even on intensley busy days. Montu has three trains and they were running all of them by afternoon on both days, but they were sooooooooo slow getting everyone changed out and checked. BGT did allow us to "watch" for and "take" empty seats after rides, which is something I really appreciate for all of us "sick puppy" coaster people! :P

Welcome Coasterdad!!! 5 kids? Wow.

I personally think this is a good idea.

It just makes no sense to have to pay staff to be back there when they aren't having that many people come in. The more money they save, the less they have to raise our pass costs, food costs, etc.

The only thing that would bother me is having to walk all the way back to the front to exit.

But it's not like it's Disney or CP or anything.

Huh, I always seen a line at North Gate last season, when there was no line at South Gate. Personally, I like South for it's speed, but I like North better for it's apearance,
