Me and my three friends went to carowinds for two days and stayed in charlotte for three. We were so scared because the weather said strong storms in the afternoon. But we went anyways. It seems to NEVER do anything at parks when I go even if there is a 90 percent chance. It rained for a few minutes. It looked like half the park left. It stopped and the lines were 90 percent shorter. It was crazy.


We even got to ride top gun twice without getting off. I rode every single coaster in the park except Thunder Road Forwards because it was down. =( Riding every coaster in the park is a BIG thing for me because my first coaster was TOP GUN last year. Before that, I had MAJOR coaster phobia. But on Sunday, forwards was working but I wanted to do backwards again because it was more fun and the forwards line was long.

Instead, I tried the Hurler, which my friend warned me OVER and OVER again about how painful it is but I was like "Yea, right. People on this website called Carowinds Connection says it runs smooth sometimes." Boy was I wrong. Never again. Same for the Vortex. Never. Worst rides. Worst of all, thats the ride we made my friend get on because she is scared of coasters because ever since she rode her first coaster, the hurler years ago, she has had a phobia. That was a BAD decison for a first roller coaster.

Vortex as a second wasn't any better. I loved our little "Spring break get away from our parents" weekend. After getting soaked on the Rapids, and losing my cellphone (but finding it with the operater of the cyclone) long story....it was a great day.

One thing that really bothered me was I did not realize how rude the employees could be. I rode the borg for the first time ever and the lady was extremely RUDE and impolite. She freakin yelled at us. Her other employees thought it was funny but it wasn't. Other than that, overall, most employees were nice. But I understand that working is not a great expirence standing on your feet constantly for hours but I mean, attempt to be friendly please =) I did get a few ride operators to smile by crackin a joke =) (a.k.a trying to flirt) I hate seeing people on a job not be happy. Thats just the kind of person I am. =) But anyways, GREAT TIME!

TOP GUN I LOVE YOU and BORG, wonderful...just wonderful =) I can hardly speak right now because of all the yelling. I will go rest. See you all this summer =)

You must have came to Hurler when I wasn't doing my "Scream" routine. You may been there when I yelled "Off the handrails please" in the Hurler station at the top of my lungs. I got tired of listening to the driver say it every cycle, so I got everyone off the handrails myself. Depending on which members of the Hurler/Drop Zone are around, we will have the Hurler station or the Drop Zone platform screaming. I am Christopher, I am normally driving Hurler or Drop Zone. If you don't see me at either ride, I am on break and will be back in 30 minutes or less.

If it's in the back, then I agree with you. Up front though it's running smooth and tons of air!

When the second day came, practically everyone on TOP GUN and the BORG reconized me and my friends. They were like "Did you sleep in the bathroom or something?" Yes. It I felt like I was "home". Ha ha. I can say I most likely AM NOT doing the Hurler again...ever. Unless I want to suffer from serious problems as an old lady.

Another thing I noticed was the lack of "excitement" on some of the rides. O yes. That was not going to happen with me and my friends on the ride. We would scream as soon as we sat down in the ride. We screamed going up the lift hill. We screamed coming back in the station. People looked at us a little funny. Ha ha. But Carowinds is all about having fun! We were pretty much over all sucessful with making a few employees smile and a few riders yell with us.

Like on...I think it was Top Gun...these people in the front would say "Heyyyy" and the back would say "Hooooo". They were getting eveyone excited too. Ha ha ha.

Not just: "Enjoy you ride." with a lackluster look on their faces.

I love parks where they make each ride an 'event' and get you all hyped up.

Although I do like the guy on TR Silver that says "Have a super dooper ride!" lol he's funny.

Ginnell, I love your enthusiasm!! Sometimes, just seeing other people having and expressing the amount of fun you and your friends had can change attitudes for lot's of people, including employees.

BTW, if you ever get the courage to do Hurler again take my advice and ride the front seat. This coaster was designed to be a front seat thriller. The floating airtime, especially on the 3rd hill and the double-up, can prove to be a stark contrast from what you will experience on any other seat in the train. Oh, and it's also MUCH smoother in the front.



Did you ride Ricochet? Many people don't mention this little thriller but IMO, it ranks right up there in the scary thrill factors.

Especially since they turned the trims off on the top turns!

^ Just a note... Ricochet never had any more, or any less, trims turned on than it does at the present date. Unless you get a ride after a rain storm (where the trims are wet and don't grab the train at the same speed), you are going to get speed-smacked at the same times and locations. After the last hairpin, after the straightaway, after the bunny hill, and the final brakes. Sometimes you'll get one more than but that only happens if they are backing up the trains and not loading quickly enough. The trims at the top have never hit the trains unless the ride was e-stopped.

I love Carowinds for running Ricochet at the speed it should be at! After my one trimless ride (after rain) I am soooo glad they keep the trims they do turned on. My shoulder and legs were killing me after the trimless ride.

Sometime last season I rode it a few times and we hit every trim on the top part where it goes back and forth. I think it was towards the beginning of the season. The times I rode it when we hit all the trims the ride was never emergency stopped.

In the early days of the ride they used to trim you to death. I've got the bruses to prove it!

I'm serious though. It used to be very heavily trimmed on the top section early on.

Only within the past 2 years have I noticed that it has little to no trims up there.

Last year at C3 they had ZERO trim on top and it was freakin awesome!
