I dont know what your listening to but im hearing nothing at all except the parks are being aquired by cedar fair and thats all! I know speculation is good and all but its getting real crazy lol...

coasterdude89 wrote:It said that CP is a destination and so is Carowinds, and since it says that CP is a multiple day/night destination, then maybe Carowinds might add a resort or something, like it was planned in the beginning.

A destination...for what 6 hours lol...I wouldn't even come close to calling carowinds a destination just yet because the only thing it has to do is, well the park. I really dont even consider cedar point a destination just a place w/ very long lines that will take you a few days to ride everything so you have to stay longer. What I consider a destination are places like Universal Orlando, disney parks, and those sandal resort places. But thats just my opinion...

coasterdude89 wrote:CF can bring major improvements to carowinds.

What do you mean by major improvements? In my honest opinion paramount did overall great things for the park. Sure enough cedar fail can being anything to the park they want to but the real question is will they.

coasterdude89 wrote:You never know, we might get what we have been hoping for!

Just not as soon as you want it.

Im just gonna sit back w/ my arms folded and in the next 5 years see what has become of the parks and take it from there...

Jarvis I completely agree. I would be surprised to see any 'significant' changes to Carowinds in the next 10 years. Let alone being the 'Cedar Point of the South' whatever the hell that means. Everyone needs to calm the speculation down a tad, because its borderline rediculous.

If Cedar Fair is smart, they won't do anything, and just continue to run the 5 parks as Paramount had. With PCW and PKI over 3 million guests, PKD at 2.5 million, and Carowinds and PGA just under 2 mill, Paramount MUST have been doing something right.

I am not going to expect major changes anytime soon. I am also going to sit back and continue to visit the park on my days off. CF is going probably give the good stuff to the parks that are making the $$$$. They won’t pump money into a park that won’t bring in the revenue. IMO it will be obviously Cedar point, and Kings Island. Since they are close together and people tend to make the trip to those 2 places. I feel that they will give us a Premier attraction within 5-10 years. But again until that time I will enjoy the park as I always have been.

I for one will remain optimistic about the growth of Carowinds during the next few years. I keep finding new "CF Acquires Paramount Parks" articles from the Washington Post, Kiplingers, Wall St Journal, etc. that continue to quote certain things said by CF offcials that lead me to believe Carowinds will become a major player. It's in one of the fastest growing cities and regions in the US unlike the parks in the slow-growing upper Midwest. Also noteworthy is the acquisition of nearly 1,000 acres of undeveloped land that will allow the company to expand parks or add hotels. Sounds like we may be in for some real surprises. I'm not going to get my hopes up though. I have no choice but to be patient and wait and see what happens. I just have a good feeling about Carowinds future though.

Cedar Fair buying the parks is the best thing that could have happened. Maybe now we'll see less of "ride swaping" and more new rides.

Don't get me wrong, Kings Island is my favorite park ever but Carowinds is a close second. I mean, Carowinds has the best steel in the chain with Top Gun and Kings Island has the best wood in the chain with The Beast. Cedar Fair made a great business desision in this.

I will admit that I am happy that an experienced amusement park company bought us. I will also go as far as to say we might finally stop being the red headed step child that gets hand me downs. But, as there always is, Cedar Point has been and always will be their Flag Ship so I never see us getting anything better than what they have. Not just in the coaster world but just in general.

I am also concerned about our "expandable" acreage. With as many posts that have been made about this subject I am still blind to what land they actually own. If someone, Mr. Swampfox, cough cough, could take an overhead view and outline our borders I and others would like that. I will still cross my fingers and hope for a multi-level parking deck like I.O.A. and Universal has. It could easily be placed up front where the pass holders have had to park from time to time. That area is right by the entrance so the walk is not bad and at the same time free up the entire existing parking area for major expansion. Yea, a pipe dream I know but a good dream if space for Carowinds is as limited as many have made it out to be.

I do hope C.F. does not kill what scenery we have left and I do hope for great things in our future but we'll see in 3-5 years what our future holds. Just slap me silly if we get something else to bring in diaper wearing patrons before we get something to make me want to wear depends! I do know that whatever they do about season passes I will not be buying one until things in the THRILL department change for us.

Over the years this park has earned the name Carelesswinds. Now that they sold the parks to them I know that name will no longer be valid. Goodbye Paramount and dont ever come back. :D

I dont get why everybody hates on carowinds with there decisions when everybody knows is not the park but the company Ie: Paramount Parks who makes the final say on what they give us. At least Carowinds is trying with stuff like Test Drive Platinum Pass, A lot of special offers, heck we even finally got our go kart track from an outside company.

Hey, I know - let's pull out everything Paramount put in, since they were so lame.

Enjoy riding Thunder Road, Scooby Doo, Goldrusher and Cyclone repeatedly. Hey, you could pretend it was that 12-year stretch under KECO where they didn't put in a *single* coaster, and took away White Lightnin' for a water slide. Man, those years were just about perfect, weren't they? Oh, yeah - that's also when much of the theming started to disappear - along with the skyride, Jalopies, Oaken Bucket, etc. 1991 had to be the best year ever at the park!

Who needs 7 more coasters, including a top-20 ranked steel invert, flat rides like Drop Zone, etc.?

Maybe I should elaborate on my previous statement about being the "Cedar Point of the South."

If you haven't noticed, they keep mentioning Carowinds as being a destination.

Eventually, now this is just speculation, maybe they will begin to add thrilling rides and make Carowinds a destination aka...with a resort, etc... And I use to word destination loosely.

Does anybody remember what the original plan for Carowinds was? The plan was to have an amusement park and resort along the border with some other stuff. The first phase was completed but the other ones fell through.

I would love to see Cedar Fair do great things with the park.

PC is the only Cedar Fair park in the South. They do not have a stong grip on the South. You have SFOG, PC, Dollywood. And then Floridas parks, which I do not consider southern.

PC (besides KD) is going to be the only CF park in the south.

They need to, and probably will do great things for the park.

Do I see it happening next season or the next? No.

Do I see it happening within the next 10-15 years. Yes.

Remember, this is all my take on the situation, and I am sure others hope and feel the same way.

I believe that Paramount has done alot for the park. Sure, some of the Carolina theming has gone to movies, but I believe that Carowinds is the best Paramount park.

Look what they did with Borg...taking a coaster that was badly operating with no theming and turning into a fun coaster.

And Top Gun! Do I need to say stuff about Top Gun?

Sure, there is room for improvment, but look on the bright side, at least Six Flags did not buy us! :D

Nope, all three of those are way off. Her area is fine but the area near it drop off.
