Here's my story on Tweetsie for anyone interested.

It's a nice little park. Just wish it had a coaster credit or two. lol

You wrote an article on Tweetsie Railroad but didn't even post a picture of Tweetsie Railroad?

It's been 35 years since I've been to Tweetsie. Nice to see this article and pictures. Yep, a picture of the train would have been nice. Image

An interesting fact you failed to mention concerning Tweetsie's steam locomotive maintenance barn is that they service and build parts for not only their trains but Disney's trains too (as well as other parks). A real gem in the NC mountains for sure.

I'm glad Tweetsie is starting to get more recognition. The park doesn't have big rides, but it’s a nice, relaxed place for families to visit, as said in the article. In recent years a lot of money has been put into cleaning up and refurbishing the grounds.

I hope the park will be around for years to come...it's a national treasure, not only due to the wonderfully kept steam locomotives, but also because of it's significance as an area tourist attraction. The park is a holdover from the tourism boom the southern Appalachians experienced during the 50s and 60s.

With Ghost Town's future unknown, Tweetsie could be the only survivor of all the little parks that sprung up in the region. (Well, not forgetting TRR's former sister park in Pigeon Forge!)
