Found this article in the Toledo Blade today. A decision will be made by Sept. whether to move the current Sandusky headquarters of Cedar Fair, to Charlotte. It's still too early to speculate and as unlikely as it may seem, we've seen crazier things happen.

LOL. I love the clueless "industry experts". I agree that the move may be unlikely for several reasons, but the one guy said "Carowinds will be one of their smallest parks".

Uh, ALL 5 of the Paramount Parks have higher attendance than everything in the CF chain except for CP and Knott's. Carowinds would be at worst 6th in attendance of the 12 parks. It's been hinted at that Carowinds may be a bit more of a player under CF than it was under Paramount. And Charlotte has an airport, and the internet, and even running water! Having a company basing itself here isn't exactly unheard of - see: Bank of America, Wachovia, etc.

I mean, Paramount Parks could've easily been based near PKI if they wanted to be near the "flagship" - and they could've been located with some other Paramount division in NY or LA that was nowhere near any of the parks. Yet, they were based in Charlotte for some reason that made sense to them. Perhaps, that reason will make an equal amount of sense to Cedar Fair. Maybe not, we'll see.
