They've already had their last touch, the absolutely huge and expensive and extensive Boomerang Bay

Sorry to tell you this but Cedar Fair has announced they will use Paramount Parks 2007 plans. My bets on Delirium or sledgehammer. SO yea no hyper next year unless paramount was planning to go EXTREME in 2007. Itd be sweet if they were planning to do tht.

The new ride will be impressive, and not only that - we DON'T have to wait until next year. This ride should open in late summer! The new ride will be:

Clearance Sale: The Experience. Guests will be given Collection Carts (which look like a shopping cart, oddly enough) as they enter The Experience. Note - these carts will be a Vekoma design, so will of course have at least one non-functioning wheel, and the remaining wheels will be of a hexagonal shape. Round wheels wouldn't have been "innovative" enough.

The Collection Cart is powered by Human Induction Motors - i.e., your feet. You propel your Cart at approximately .895 miles per hour, achieving this speed in about 10 seconds. The ride has no track, but uses an innovative surface (linoleum) allowing free-form movement of the Cart through the ride's layout. The ride is much like Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion, except there are no special effects or lightguns, and it's not dark. There IS theming however. The walls keeping the Collection Carts on course through the twists, turns, and awesome 5 feet of vertical changes aren't walls at all! No, they're not the ordinary shelving they appear to be! They're Paramount Prize Package Receptacles!

As you manuver your Cart, you will find many unique Paramount Prizes located in these Receptacles. Collect as many Prizes as you wish and place in your Cart. Look for rare "Got MINTS?" Hurler T-Shirts, Vortex shirts depicting an Arrow looper and generic Paramount Parks merchandise.

As you reach the end of The Experience, you will have your Prizes tallied to give you your score at the Prize Scoring Area. No, those only look like cash registers, they're not, really. Upon receiving your score, you will be allowed to use an Official Game Card (available from Bank of America, Wachovia, etc.) to actually TAKE THESE PRIZES HOME! Try that on Scooby's Haunted Mansion!

Like most heavily-themed Paramount attractions, the theming will start to deteriorate almost immediately. By October, there will only be some Official Paramount Shot Glasses, some Wayne's World stuff they found in storage and Wild Thornberries postcards left as prizes. So make sure you take advantage of the daily Platinum Pass ERT, giving you a valuable 3 minutes of early access to this attraction!

The only coaster that will have to be renamed will be Borg Assimilator and Top Gun the Jet Coaster. haha Top Gun=Thunderhawk and Borg=Dominator. So much for Cedar Fair and creativity in names.

Did we miss this announcement somewhere?

As far as renaming goes, why don't we wait and see what happens with the sale first. Besides, Top Gun will be Raptor and Borg will be X-Flight ;-)

We just arrived home from a nice family vacation that included visits to PKD, HP(Hershey Park) and DP(Dorney Park). The visit to DP was my very first visit to a CF park of any kind. True to what I've heard on the boards, there was much concrete and my wife and I had to just laugh at the amount of garbage cans :) , all spaced about 20 feet apart.

However, most ALARMING to me was their policy of not allowing consecutive re-rides on anything! We took advantage of their starlight admission and there were hardly any waits for any rides in the whole park all evening ~ a refreshing change from what were are used to at PCW. We could have easily rode Talon, Hydra, Steel Force and Revolution for many multiple rides. I have grown accustomed, in "our" park, to "slipping in" for extra hops on Top Gun. Early this spring we were allowed multiple re-rides on Montu and Kumba and last year on Kraken at Sea World.

I inquired with the ride operators at DP as to whether this was their rule or a CF rule. They replied that it was a CF rule. They became real chatty once they learned we were "plats" from a new sister park, Carowinds. We had all better get used to NEVER getting but one hop on Top Gun at a time in the future, if this is indeed a CF rule! This possibility grieves me terribly! I love being able to take three or more consecutive hops on Top Gun, provided there are empty seats. Carowindsman has been generous in allowing this, but may not be able to in the future...

Something else that will probably change is the cost of a platinum or season pass. I would expect it to be $99. or thereabouts. Yes, it will provide for admission to the sister parks and CP, but I doubt we will ever see all the "fringe" benefits we currently enjoy as plats now. For our family, this would mean $700 for the clan, instead of $350, which I paid this past October. Depending on the benefit program, I may think twice as to whether I want to do it again... :(

I will still be generous i will fight that policy till the end free rides on top gun as long as i got empty seats i will allow people to fill them up.

I agree with the Cedar Fair policy on rerides, it causes confusion when you let people ride again, and seat hop. I would rather make them go backaround.

In our case at DP, there were at least 20 empty seats EACH time on Talon and Hydra, with 10 or more on Steel Force and Revolution. Yes, we did go around and catch a couple more hops on each, but it sure would have been easy to get a seat without any confusion each time...

Well they could always reuse names like Talon or Raptor.

Although all the CP fanboys would have a hissey if they used Raptor!!!

Speaking of recycling names I had an interesting conversation with my cousin (who is not an enthusiast) about how many Goliath's there are out there.

He was all "That makes no sense! It's too confusing to have that many coasters with the same name!" I'm glad somebody gets it.

If only Six Flags did.

Hummm...care to elaborate as to how it can be confusing filling empty seats...
