Well folks, so we are finally taking full advantage of our season pass and taking a trip up to VIrginia for Kings Dominion this weekend. For those who have never been, I'll be sure to come back on here over the weekend at some point and post to this board on how it was.

I may or may not be back on here today, but if you have any tips about the park, please don't hesitate to message me, either on here or on my messengers.

Talk to yall soon.

Enjoy the park!

Volcano is currently down though. I would link you to the thread over on thrillnetwork.com but the site is down right now.

Maybe it will be back up this weekend, but I doubt it. It was apparantley a major accident.

Grizzly is a great wooden coaster, Flight of fear is great IMO and the rest of the collection is pretty good and very similar to Carowinds.

I like PKD, although it's much more ghetto than Carowinds.

Oh, and their Drop Zone rocks!!!

Be sure and sit away from the temple on Tomb Raider (awesome top spin). Sit towards Volcano unless you want your privates crushed. I was about 20lbs heavier in October and didn't have any problems with it.

The fire show is awesome at night!

Flight of Fear is down as well (for the rest of the season). Volcano and Flight of Fear are the best two steel coasters in the park in my opinion, so it's unfortunate that you will miss them. I'm sure you will enjoy the park, though; it's the best in the chain as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully Grizzly is running well; when it is in good form, it is a wonderful ride. Don't forget to take a spin on the Flying Eagles and walk through the Treasure Cave. Have fun!

It's near the entrance to the children's area on the side close to the Eiffel Tower. http://www.dafe.org/where2ride/va.htm

^ Volcano had a major problem early this week or late last week and 2 people were injured.

Apparantley it must have been a major thing because it took them 2 hours to get all the riders off and one guy had a cut above his eye, the other injury was a brused leg.

FOF has been down for suspicious reasons. It sounds like it might be coming to Carowinds, but no one is quite sure.

I think the sign has something like they are retheming it or that it's just down.

I dont' know how I missed the Treasure Cave after all the times I've been up there. lol

We were at KD a little less than two weeks ago and FOF had no sign up or anything. I spoke with a veteran security guard about why it was closed and he told me that, "they are taking it apart and hauling it to the sister park in Canada". I told him that it didn't look like it was being taken apart and he replied that the inside had been gutted pretty much and only the building was still intact. I didn't see any activity from Volcano or Anaconda that suggested any activity in the backlot behind FOF.

Doesn't deserve? What the heck is this all about. PCW has only had about 1.3 million more in attendence than us despite the much shorter operating season, so I would say they deserve it. since Cedar Fair has taken over no one knows quite what is going to happen, though I hear 'P'KI is going to annouce soon. If it bothers you that much go to Canada (or Ohio.. or Maryland.. or Texas...) and ride one. Look at the bright side.. at least it won't be another 'used' coaster for Carowinds.

But anyway yes, PKD is a fantastic park, I don't like quite as much as Carowinds, but I guess thats just the fanboy in me talking. Make sure you ride Grizzly at night, it blows pretty much anything this side of Tennessee away.

Well the rumors were about 6 months ago that the PKD one would go to PCW.

The PKI version would be coming to a certain park that shall remain nameless. Half of the rumor has come true, you do the math.

Yeah I didn't mention that for a specific reason... PKI's is still in operating condition, so I'm wondering if it will be removed and go to.. uhh another 'CF' park. Speaking of CF, no rumors have 'come true' yet. (really shouldn't base that kind of stuff off of what a security guard says) It remains to be seen if any of the 2007 plans will stay as Paramount planned them.

-J (would take FOF over Italian Job every day of the week.. but would really like some sort of outward facing Frisbee. Plz.)

I'm BACK... and WOW... what an amazing park.

OK noone ever told me it was the park from the National Lampoons Vacation. I realized this in the bathroom around 8 oclock that night... don't ask how.

Well so on to how the trip went.

We stayed at the hotel friday and left for the park early morning saturday morning and made it in right at opening - 10:30.

IT WAS DEAD.

We acquired a parking space right in the front row of the park. The park was at about an average full rate during the day.

Opening was kool because they actually let you in the park before they open and keep gates closed to the rest of the park until they actually open. We were relatively at the front of this line and headed off to the grove.... but then made our way down to the Italian Job as our first ride of the day.

We practically walked onto the Italian Job and rode in the front of the ride. Quite amazing. The line started filling up as we were getting on but never made but one round in the line.

After that we walked onto the Tomb Raider ride and rode it on the Volcano side. This had to be one of my favorite rides at the park, flipping us over and around and upside down multiple times and so on...

We then took a little bit of history in and hopped on the Avalanche. This was a fairly smooth ride though it was old.

The Volcano was still closed and looked like it won't be up for a while. There is no longer any access to the Flight of Fear and looks to be pretty much a gutted ride as we discovered later in the day on the Anaconda.

After the Avalanche we smoked, then ran up to the Hypersonic. This was our longest wait of the day. This was my first experience on a coaster like this and all i have to say is it was amazing. I was actually scared on this ride. worth the wait though it was rather short.

Our friends with us ended up having a little bit of a spell after this. One girl hit her head on the back of the ride and the other one started feeling for her heart... but we headed outside for some sandwiches and drink and took a break.

I'm going to take a break here and let you guys soak in what I have and start a second update.
