General Carowinds discussion

Recently while driving the pimp mobile i heard a Carowinds advertisement for BB, At the end it said just Carowinds. The next day i heard a different advertisement for it and that time they said Paramount Carowinds. On the cedar fair site it originally said Carowinds but has gone back to Paramount Carowinds.

My Question to you is

Would you be mad if we were to somehow keep the Paramount Name.

I am kind of both sides on this one and dont have a real definite answer

Atmosphere? Aside from BORG doing away with Smurf Island and the paddlwheeler, the rest of the park has nice atmosphere. I just hope they update County Fair...

I'd like to either see:

a) "Paramount's" stay and a much stronger presence of movies be held throughout the park and rides. (Which seemed to be happening the last couple years with Tomb raider, Borg, and some of the concept ideas)

or

B) Return to only Carowinds and scrap all movie ideas and reinforce the whole Carolinas theme.

Either way, I want the theming to be more clear and consistent through the park.

Personally, i prefer just plain old Carowinds (i've always called it carowinds anyway, not paramounts...). But if they don't change it, i'm not going to die or anything (it's been that way for a long time after all).

^ Exactly. Just cause you're pissed off at the park Chris don't use that as an excuse to rant on here.

The park is the nicest it's been IMO all my life. The park is clean, the atmosphere is good, etc.

I personally would like for it to stay Paramount's Carowinds even though I call it Carowinds unless I have to say Paramounts do to working there. But I like the Paramount themeing in the park..heck it may not be a WDW or Universal but its somthing themed around movies and the nearest theme park around here. Cedar Fair may drop the Paramount name but I hope they keep and continue themeing the rides. To me the Paramount theme, names, music, advertising in the park, and ect make it more than a so called "upscale carnival or fair".

In the nuts defense I dont think that above post has anything to do w/ his hatred for being fired...err I mean let go it has more to do w/ the reason why he started working at the park...to change it from paramount. I just dont get how horrible paramount was to the parks to have people acting like this is the modern day equivalent of moses saving the people from the paramount...i mean the pharoh.

Even when Paramount bought the park, I still called it Carowinds (and KI, KD, etc.) So, it doesn't bother me if they drop the Paramount, which I'm sure they will do. Right now, I can't wait to see what happens with the licensed properties, etc.

The Carowinds Atmosphere and the Paramount's Carowinds Atmosphere are two very different looks. The only area of Carowinds that remains largely Carowinds is the area between Nick Central, Scooby, and Top Gun. The Scooby-Doo Barn area to be exact. This area of the park has remained largely untouched by Paramount Parks. The trees, the ponds, the buildings, such a beautiful area. Sure, there is no ride there but a small flat ride could be placed there with killing the area. Paramount Plaza is an example of Paramount's Carowinds theming. The buildings, and a few bushes here and there. None of the buildings match, it is a very ugly area. There is more to an amusement park than rides, buildings, walkways, and trees. It is called landscaping, and Paramount is just learning how to do it. Point is, Paramount Parks never had a clue what they were doing with Carowinds, this may not be true with the other parks. My hatred for the Paramount name is deeper than me getting terminated. My hatred comes from the removal of the Sternwheeler, the repainting of the Carousel, the removal of trees, flowers, and other plants, the building of large unarchitected buildings, and the overall downgrade of the park. To be as young as I am, I can still remember the beauty of the park before Paramount Parks came in. My views and suggestions have already been made to Cedar Fair personally after talking with one of the people from Cedar Fair. Cedar Fair actually cares about Carowinds, Paramount Parks doesn't. The normal park guest can see the different between the Paramount Parks Employees and the Cedar Fair Employees, CF people talk to the guests without reason, Paramount Parks Employees don't even bother to smile. Note:I am talking about management personnel not regular employees.

Dropping the Paramount name from Paramount's Carowinds for me means that the assholes who reinvented Carowinds into a poorly run amusement park are gone, and Cedar Fair will reinvent Carowinds into a nicely run amusement park. When I go to Carowinds, I am not only riding rides, but also watching all park associates to see how good they do their job. I.E, Do they smile, do they interact with the guests, Do they show how they was, Are they on their cellphone. I did this when I went to SFOG, and I did not like what I saw.

Yea, I worked for Paramount Parks Inc. but I never wore the Paramount Parks Logo proudly, I never said "I work for Paramount's Carowinds" nor did I said "I work for Paramount Parks." It was always "I work at Carowinds." I was proud to wear the blue shirt but I wasn't proud of the logo on it. Yes, everyone still knew I worked at Carowinds just by looking at the logo but that is only because most people only know of Carowinds. Next year, I will be wearing a Carowinds or Cedar Fair logo, and I will proudly say "I work for Cedar Fair at Carowinds" or "I work at Carowinds."

I know what you mean. I actually did not like Carowinds til a couple years after Paramount.

They really won me over with Top Gun and all the updating and sprucing up of the park in general. Almost all lands have been overhauled and the park has become a favorite for me and my family. About 15 years back i could make no such claim and actually avoided Carowinds.

I know you are bitter, but the park is what it is because of all it's history, not just bits and pieces of it. Sure, we have lots some nice things (I liked the monorail), but there have been many improvements too.

ppsst...roller I have some shocking news for ya...it seems as if cedar fair thinks the only thing to an amusement park is concrete, trashcans, and no theme/landscaping :o oh and record breaking coasters placed only at ONE park instead of throughout the chain! I dont get how you say there isnt landscaping at the park. It's JAM PACKED w/ flowers and such.

Point is, Paramount Parks never had a clue what they were doing with Carowinds, this may not be true with the other parks.

Seems to me they knew exactly what they were doing...attendance is up, its more well known, and they have brought in some great additions. They had a clue exactly what they were doing but it just wasn't to your liking...

the building of large unarchitected buildings...

examples please...

Cedar Fair actually cares about Carowinds, Paramount Parks doesn't.

based on what...what someone told you? See if you are still saying that after 5 years, not saying that they wont but lets not set ourself up to eat crow...

Paramount Parks Employees don't even bother to smile. Note:I am talking about management personnel not regular employees.

But I bet they are constantly laughing when you walk away lol lol

No comment...well that was on.

Do you honestly thing someone will hire you back after all that...

I'd like for it to go back to just Carowinds again. I don't know of anyone that acknowledges the "Paramount's" anyway.

It would be great if the Carolina theming returned, but I don't think Cedar Fair will put money into something like that. I expect all of the existing theming to simply be removed and not replaced if Cedar Fair chooses to ditch all the movie tie-ins.
