How do we know Paramount didn't decide to cancel (despite the selling of the tickets)? What I mean is, do we have any solid evidence that CF was the cause for the cancellation?

Winterfest was also cancelled at the other paramount parks that have winterfest so I think its a pretty fair assumption that its a CF move.

I still can't believe that they are cacelling winterfest i already got my refund for my tickets....

I can only think the reason for this is so that cedar can make all the appropriate changes...it just makes since so they have extra months to make all the changes they need to make..because they would need all of november to prepare for winterfest...and some of january to take everything down...that only would leave 2 1/2 months or so to make changes from the paramount parks to cedar fair. At least they didnt cancel scarowinds....

This is the only explanation i can think of and the wording of the e-mail this makes sense? Oh well maybe it will be back in '07 or something...

Carowinds did lose money on Winterfest last season and I heard that the other Paramount parks didn't fare so well either. It's possible that CF just doesn't want to take that chance on a uncertain event. Besides, the money they save would be that much more to put in the parks regular schedule.

Yea... they might have. It wasnt real crowded when I went but there was a moderate crowd. I guess a lot of people dont like the idea of being outside when its 30 degrees.... me I dont mind it it was about 35 degrees the night i went and i rode topgun 3 times in the front seat....i was looking forward to it this year to....oh well. JUST DONT TAKE SCAROWINDS AWAY!! :o

Carowinds did NOT lose money in the end, we broke even.

Maybe they will try and bring it back in the future. I don't blame them for cancelling it; afterall I am sure Cedar Fair is probably looking to cut costs right now since they paid some billion odd dollars for the parks and breaking even just isn't worth it.

Actually it was a Paramount move to cancel Winterfest. I remeber we were told that it was being canceled weeks before CF came in. They just decided to announce it to the public a month later.
