Well last friday, aug 4th, I decided to take my little cousin shania to paramount's carowinds to kill 2 birds with one stone. She had only been to the park for the boombay media/VIP day and didn't get to experience the whole park and since last friday was a lunch with the characters day I decided it would be a great day for her to see the whole park and meet some "super stars". After making a quick stop at walmart to get her a bathing suit (she left her other one at her house), some sandals w/ 2 inch soles on them (c'mon she is a mini thrill seeker and she was dissapointed at dollywood so we weren't gonna take that chance again
), and some towels we were on our way to the park. We got there around 10:30 and from first impression the crowd on a scale of 1-10 was a 5 slightly leaning towards a 4. After snapping some pictures of her infront of the paramount's carowinds sign we finally made it into the park. Ohhh actually I was killing 3 birds with one stone! Im doing a reality based DVD for shania where im documenting her growing up and filming her in different situations. I've already did vol. 1 which consisted of her visits to my moms house (when I was living there) and her rambling on in make believe land. Vol 2 is starting with her graduation and then we take it on the road at places like dollywood, walmart, carowinds, and other places in between!
Our first ride of the day was the wild thornberry's river adventure. I dont think I have ridden this since the change but its still the same. I have to say its a pretty fast flume after the first drop and it would have been even nicer if they had some theme throughout the entire course but oh well. After a wild ride on reptar we went to experience her first character meal. One thing I can say about paramount's carowinds is that they really know how to make the guest feel special even with the little things. upon walking to the picnic shelter you realize your now walking on the red carpet lined with balloons that ends with very eager employees who seem to have been waiting just for you to show up! After babbling with Scott (in case you dont know he's the public relations mananger and the guy that keeps me outta trouble
) about all kinds of stuff shania and me went to grab our plate and take over the buffet. It was your typical picnic style menu with fried chicken and stuff like that. Before I forget let me mention this event was PACKED!! I know it was several hundred people people there and at 12.99 per adult and 7.99 per child there is no way this event couldnt have been sucessful. After a few minutes the show started. The crew came out and did a musical number then the characters came out.
I was starting to wonder how they were going to give the kids their 1 on 1 time with the characters since it was like a billion kids there but once the characters came out they formed lines infront of each one. Even with that it was a mad house! The park had almost every suit character out there for the event which suprised me and they were out for the majority of the event. Man, kids were falling out because they had to leave the characters, they were following the characters and wouldn't let them go back. I have to admit I was getting a little jealous because they were stealing what is usually my attention and publicity! When the characters took their first break I ran into Natividad (the assistant public relations mananger and again, someone who saves me butt B) ) and chatted a few with her about the new coaster comming to the park next year. When the characters came back out shania and me took some more pics and high tailed it outta there before the kids go crazy again.
I have to say, I have a new found respect fo paramount's carowinds. I have never notice all the stuff the park has to keep FAMILIES busy the whole day. Even with moderate to light crowds shania and me didn't do everything in the park and we were there from 10:30 that morning to 5:30 that afternoon. We didnt even attempt the water park because I knew we didnt have enough time for that! Paramount's Carowinds is definitely a park that a family would have to take more than one day to get the full experience and its a place where lots of memories can and will be made. The enviroment is soo welcoming and you dont feel rushed to do anything. What ever the park is doing I sooo hope they continue in the days to come and I really hope cedar fair looks at paramount's carowinds and possibly take notes because they have struck gold when they aquired paramount's carowinds. Well enough of the babble on to the pictures (not all of them but the rest are here...

WOW thats not even 30% of the people there...and this was friday!

B)

who the heck are those guys?

did I mention it was a buffet!

Because of this we were at the top of the skytower rotating for atleast 20 minutes...but who cares it was air conditioned!

At that very moment boots let one slip and blamed it on doras "abuelo's" tacos!

For some reason this ride was pretty popular...

I have the ran over leg to prove it...
