Congratulations to Dollywood on grabbing the #1 wooden coaster for the second year in a row (I thought Voyage would be #1 for sure!). Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia came in at #9 (a very impressive debut), while our own Top Gun fell to 32nd on the list. There are a lot of things on this list that I find to be incredibly ridiculous, but my favorite steel did get #1, and my favorite two woodies were at the top (although in reverse order from my preference).

^i too find some things on the list a bit ridiculous or biased, or just "off", but generally, i think the Golden Ticket awards are probably one of the best listings of the "best of"s in the amusement industry. Not the typical ones that put the tallest or fastest up at the top (or record setters in general).

Well that's a shocker that Thunderhead took #1 again. Not that it wasn't my #1 last year.

I'm sure after a few more people get a chance to ride Voyage between this year and next it probably will take the #1 spot (unless Gravity Group comes up with something new for next year).

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible for a new ride to get #1. I believe #2 is the highest ranking ever for a new ride. Goliath at #9 is awesome as well, and I would expect it to move up the top 10 once more people ride it. Same with El Toro; although I haven't been on it yet, I would expect it to be top 10 if not top 5 in another year or two.

I posted it over on TN in the news section and was looking at the Top Ten Wood...why the heck is Beast still in the Top 10??

It's time for nostalgia to stop determining what people vote for. I rode it in 99 and it was my #1 wooden coaster, today it's not even in my top 10.

The ride is just downright boring these days except for the final helixes.

These people that vote for it must not get out and ride coasters very often.

Just more proof of why Mitch's online poll is the best.

i noticed something very interesting...

on the Golden Ticket Awards pdf file, <a href='http://www.amusementtoday.com/image/GoldenTicket2006.pdf' target='_blank'>http://www.amusementtoday.com/image/GoldenTicket2006.pdf</a> ,

on the third page there is a full page Cedar Fair advertisement showing the familiar map with all the parks on it. While PKI, PKD, PGA, and PCW all have 'Paramount' in front of their names, Carowinds is listed as simply 'Carowinds'.....

what does this mean??

It means someone was too lazy to proofread the thing.

My theory is that they will keep the Paramount name on the parks until the season ends and then drop it.

It would make no sense to keep them seperate.
