I've been to the park several times during severe weather. I can't imagine going to the park on a hot summer day without it ending in a thunderstorm.

Fortunatly, I've never been at the park whenever there's a Tornado passing through. I hear it is a real hassel though. Anybody have any Tornado stories?

While with my youth group, we were waiting for Top Gun stormy weather approached the park and the ride closed. We waited for an hour to hour and a half just to ride Top Gun.

Edit: Since everyone is discussing their non-Carowinds Ride Break Down or Bad Weather Stories I'll type another one. While at Sea World we were about to ride Kraken (my favorite roller coaster) when a huge raincloud surrounded the area and it started to pore down rain. We finally got on looking at wet seats in front of us and pulled out into the rain. Man, that rain felt like needles as it beat against my face, but it was awesome though. Now I know how a windshield feels. :D

I've gotten stuck on the hurler lift, scooby doo lift, cyclone lift and the top of Drop Zone for more than five minutes (though drop zone was more like 3 1/2, though it felt like 3 hours of gruleing agony, we didn't get any warning when it finally dropped!).

<Off Topic>I waited for the wildcat at Cedar Point for 1 1/2 hours and then it started drizzling and because the brakes are tires that can get slick, they had to shut the ride down when I was next in line!<Off Topic>

Big Bad Wolf at night during a thunderstorm. Lightning illuminating the whole ride. A loud clap of thunder and bolt of lightning as we left the station. We wondered if we'd even make it back. Then, we had to walk all the way back to the front of the park in pouring rain. An experience I'll never forget.

As far as Carowinds goes...a mini marathon on Top Gun in a downpour. On a season pass holder's preview for Vortex, when it opened, we were stuck on the brake run for 45 minutes. Not fun for guys.

I went one day and got stuck on cyclone half way up the lift someone came up and told me and my cousin that someone hit the chain stop button. Sounded like someone slacking on the job if you ask me. This wasnt a bad thing but another time i was at the park i got on thunder road backwards while it was pouring down rain so hard it felt like hail. The train hydroplaned the whole way around the track.

Oh yeah, get on a hypercoaster while it's raining, this little kid got off the ride crying because his face hurt so much. You couldn't even open your eyes!

Woodies are more fun when it's raining and the tracks are wet.

I had an interesting experience a few years when I first visited Carowinds. It was early in April, one of the first weekends it was open, and it had been raining all morning, and been very cold too. Well my dad and I got to the park as soon as it opened and thought we'd try out Vortex. We got on and it started pouring! It was really cold, and we were being pelted in the face by the raindrops. It hurt like hell!! When we got off, I looked at my dad's fleece jacket and noticed that the drops of rain had turned to ice from the wind on the ride. That was pretty crazy.

(Members first post....WHOO, HOO!)

This past Halloween, when I was at Scarowinds, we were coming out of Vortex's station and suddenly the train stopped! But, it turned out some idiot had just unbuckled themself! :D And then we kept going!
